Alina - come to more tournies! Haven't seen you for ages! The Hereford Open is coming up (Tornado) as is the Warwick Open (Garlando). Both tournies will be catering very well for women...

And come and say hi in 'The Powder Room' (Women's forum).

Hope to see you back on the tournie scene before long.

Does anybody have the results for the mini tourney from last Friday 16th March?

I remember around 19 people attending,
John Shovelton carrying JW
And Scott playing like David Blunkett

Hi all,

Back at the Oxford 06 tourny, they was a chap that said he would like to team up with me at a tourny sometime. I forget his name, It might even be Patrick I'm not sure. Sorry if its not you Patrick.

I seem to have sandbagged down to Amateur and I'm thinking of maybe going to warwick if I can play with a really top Amateur.

If Its you I spoke to, or you're a top Amateur (attacker) then pm me.

Thanks,

Ben

Finally - mini tournament results for 16th March

Post by Paul Addison » Thu Mar 29, 2007 9:34 pm

Another great night and 19 players. John Worthington kindly offered to help the newcomer John Shovelton. The final result being a play-off win over Paddy and Scott following a two way tie (Barratt ITFC International Table Football at the Chetwynd - ruling applied).

Other visitors included Jo Beney and Gareth Jones (possibly from Leicester?) who came along with Nick and Dominic Badham.

Another high turnout last Friday 23rd March

Post by Paul Addison » Thu Mar 29, 2007 9:52 pm

Led to a closely fought contest between derek & Bill and John Worthington & Steve Haddon. Nice to see the return of Alina and Brendan. Rumour has it there may be an even bigger turnout next week. If so we may have to have a world cup format of two qualifying Leagues based upon a DYP and seedings.

Gareth Jones played with Nick, Jo and me in the Jesus College Oxford team.

He's still in Oxford now.

Cheers for the welcome once again. Hopefully I'll make it back again sometime soon.

Graet competition and great to see Dave Morgan and John Shovelton again. Winners were Alina and John Shovelton following a play-off against Scott and John Worthington. The play-off losers actually had the best gaol difference. I think there may be discussions over the Barratt ruling!

League places:-

Team      Won Lost F A GD Pts
Alina&JohnS*     7 1 35 21 14 35
Scott&JohnW      7 1 39 23 16 35

Excellent turn-out last night. Some very closelyfought matches and a three-way tie for first place. Derek and Paddy winning on goal difference - Barratt rule applies. Special mention must go to Chris and Suki who only won two games but finished with a goal difference of 0 - reflecting three sweat ball defeats!

Team      Won Lost F A GD Pts
Derek&Paddy     6 1 33 15 18 30
PaulB        6 1 31 17 14 30
Scott&Brendan   6 1 33 22 11 30
PaulA&Roger      3 4 25 30 -5 15
DomH&Dean      3 4 21 30 -9 15
Suki&Chris        2 5 27 27 0 10

delayed results from 20th April Mini Tournament

Post by Paul Addison » Sat Apr 28, 2007 12:00 pm

As usual the Barrett rule caused controversy when the team with the best goal difference lost the play-off final. As the team with the best goal difference included Paul barrett their could be no complaints. In fact the general view is that this rule should continue as it gives the competition an extre edge. The rule being if two teams tie for first place there is a paly-off. If more than two tems tie it is settled by goal difference.

final league table for this month's mini-tournament saw John & Bill has "worthy" winners despite two narrow sweat ball victories and being 5-2 down against Roger and Paul. I will not go on too much about the fact that it was John's idea to play to seven and that if we had played to five myself and Roger would have won. I hold no grudges ................. (continues moaning for several days - rest of message is censored and edited)

Team   Won Lost F A GD Pts
John&Bill*      5 1 41 30 11 25
PaulB&Steve    5 2 38 21 17 25
Paddy&Scott    4 3 36 30 6 20
Derek      4 3 35 33 2 20
Dom&Judders  2 5 31 32 -1 10
PaulA&Roger    1 6 28 39 -11 5
Suki&JodieW    0 7 18 42 -24 0
