The top 2 teams in Open Doubles, Women's Doubles, Senior Doubles, and Junior Doubles, and the top 2 players in Open Singles, Women's Singles, Senior Singles and Junior Singles will qualify for the 2015 ITSF World Championships.

The qualifying teams must be willing to pay their flights and accommodation to the World Championships, and must provide proof of booking to the BFA at least 2 months before the event. If you want to compete at the Worlds it is advisable to ensure your doubles partner is also committed to do so.

In the event that any qualified player in a Singles event is unable to compete at the World Championships, the next player (according to the results of the event at the UK Championships) that is able to compete will be selected.

In the event that any qualified team in a Doubles event is unable to compete at the World Championships, the process for selection of replacement teams is as follows:

- If one member of the team is able to compete, that player may choose any other eligible player as a replacement partner.
- If neither member of the team is able to compete, the next team (according to the results of the event at the UK Championships) will qualify.
- If that team is unable to compete, the process starts again.

In the event that the above processes encounter 2 or more players/teams that are equal according to the results of the UK Championships event, a tie-breaker (format to be decided) will be played to decide who qualifies.

Accommodation & Directions:

Travelling by Road

Enter Liverpool via the M62/Edge Lane corridor and follow signs for ‘City Centre’ and then signs for ‘Lime Street Station’. Venue is approx 200m south of the station complex (to the right facing downhill). The venue is on the corner of Bolton Street and Copperas Hill

For those entering the city via the M53/Wallasey tunnel, follow ‘City Centre’ direction (right lane) out of the tunnel, then stay in left/middle lane when approaching the city centre, filter left at lights before roundabout for Birkenhead tunnel, get into the right lane and turn right at the first set of traffic lights up the hill, follow Lime St and take second left after the station, the venue is 100m on the left.

Parking

There is only time-limited daytime street parking available near the venue with very sharp traffic wardens even at weekends – this is Liverpool City Centre! There are public car parks in Mount Pleasant (around 300m away) and at the top of Copperas Hill allowing attractive all-day rates, the car park on Bolton Street next to the venue is expensive and closes at tea-time, or St John’s Shopping Centre (but check closing times). There are other parking options available. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Use of Public Transport is strongly recommended.

Taxis
Champfoos recommend Phoenix Cabs (private-hire Black cabs) who offer very reasonable pre-booked rates – 0151-268-5555

The venue is located on the corner of Bolton Street and Copperas Hill as shown on the maps below:

Travelling by Rail

Liverpool is served by Liverpool Lime Street Station with direct services to London Euston and connections from all over the UK. Check out http://www.thetrainline.com for timetables and ticket prices. Lime Street Station is less than 3 minutes walk to the venue. On foot, exit Lime Street to the left hand side of the concourse, walk directly on to Bolton street from the side entrance, venue is on your left at the end of Bolton St.

Liverpool Central Station is served by local lines including Southport/Preston and Wirral/Chester/North Wales – the station 5 is minutes walk – exit the concourse turning right (uphill) on Ranelagh Street, cross Lime Street on to Copperas Hill (left of the Adelphi Hotel), venue is 50 yards uphill on your left.

Accommodation

Liverpool is a major European city, and has a range of hotels to suit all budgets and styles. The list below is not exhaustive but includes most places within walking distance of the tournament venue. Note that Liverpool FC are playing at home against Arsenal that weekend. Players are therefore strongly recommended to book early.

The following list of Liverpool hotels was taken from ‪http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk ordered by distance from the venue up to 1.6 miles away (approx 2.5km) and covering the city centre (prices from 2012). You are strongly advised to check Tripadvisor or other comparison sites before booking for reviews, contact/booking details and any special online booking deals.

A reminder to attendees that you need to renew your annual BFA membership if it has expired - or get a new one if it's the first time for you. Five pounds for members of a BFA club, or 10 pounds if not.

I am writing to provide clarification on the entry criteria for the UKC, which as published above is:
ITSF World Championship Qualifying Events (ITSF WCQE) are open only to British Citizens or to overseas citizens who are normally resident in the UK and who have been continuously resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years and who have not represented another country in ITSF competitions. Players entering Senior events must have been born on or before 31/12/1963. Players entering Junior events must have been born on or after 01/01/1996. Players are able to enter any event that they can represent the UK for at the ITSF World Championships.
The text used here is copied and pasted from previous years and as written would actually rule out established Team GB players who have legitimately converted to GBR having previously competed for other nations, e.g. UK women's number 1 Olga Lasecka and Jude Fitzgerald. It's also not clear on the required nationality of the UK resident overseas citizens in order to compete.

It's important to consider the spirit of the law as well as the letter. In this case, the idea is that the UKC should be open to British citizens, or people who have legitimately converted to being British by having been in the country for 5 years. There is also an ITSF requirement that people need to serve a 12 month "rest" period between representing one nation and another in the team events at ITSF tournaments.

On behalf of the BFA and as agreed with the tournament organiser, I confirm the updated qualification criteria are as below
ITSF World Championship Qualifying Events (ITSF WCQE) are open only a) to British Citizens or b) to overseas citizens who are normally resident in the UK and recognised as GBR players by the ITSF, and who have been continuously resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years, and who have not represented another country in the team events at ITSF competitions in the past 12 months. Players entering Senior events must have been born on or before 31/12/1964. Players entering Junior events must have been born on or after 01/01/1996. Players are able to enter any event that they can represent the UK for at the ITSF World Championships.
Please get in touch with me with any questions, thanks.
