The first match was streamed. Ryan Moore beat Gilles Perrin. Boris was reffing and Alex was keeping time. They've stopped streaming now though.

Looking forward to Atha V Csar.

Apparently Robert Mares missed his flight, got there late, and missed the qualifying for OS.

Updates:

World Championships:

Men's Singles:

Rob made it through to the Quarter Finals where he ran into Tony Spredeman and lost 3-1 (so I have heard). Tony then beat Ryan in an epic match winning 13-11 in the 5th. He now plays Yannick Correira, an 18 year old from Luxembourg.

Joe won 5 out of 8 games in the qualification stages to progress to the elimination brackets, though unfortunately he lost to Ladislav Krepela in the first round.

Men's Doubles:

Rob and Joe I think automatically qualified for the elimination stage where they are top seeds. Importantly the 2 best teams in the draw, Spredeman & Yore and Gummeson & McMillan, are in the other half.

Tom and John won 4 out of 8 games in the qualification stage, including beating a Belgian team on Bonzini, but unfortunately went out on goal difference so didn't make it to the elimination stage.

Women's Singles:

Mayya won 5 out of 8 in the qualification stages meaning she progressed through to the eliminations, but unfortunately she lost to M. Tabakovic in the first round.

Our resident Pole Ola shared the same fate as Mayya, qualifying strongly but going out in the first round too.

Women's Doubles:

Mayya and Jody won 4 out of 8 in the qualifiers to progress to the knock outs where they face Jose Moenen and Danielle Mordant from Holland in the first round.

Hannah and Cath also won 4 out of 8 in the qualifiers and now face the Danish team of Amalie Bremer and Camilla Lohmann in the first round.

Junior Singles:

Rich won 2 out of 8 matches in the qualifiers, running into tough opposition in the shape of the USA' Blake Robertson (who is part of their World Cup side). Unfortunately he did not progress to the elimination stage.

Junior Doubles:

Tom Nubbert and Rich achieved a 100% record in the qualification stage, unfortunately not in the way they desired.

Senior Singles:

Dave won a fantastic 7 out of 8 in the qualification stages to finish top seed going into the knockouts. Unfortunately after a bye in the first round he went out in the quarter finals, losing to F. Cicchelli.

Senior Doubles:

Dave and Tich also won 7 out of 8 in the qualification stages of the doubles and have a bye in the first round....

...They play the winner of Cicchelli & Wahl vs Stuart and Les, who won 2 out of 8 in the qualification stages.
