These events were held at places like supermarkets and attracted lots of entries.

Several other countries have done this sort of thing with sponsors such as Kinder and Vodaphone.

The events held in the UK at football clubs on Smoby tables are supposed to have pulled in 11,000 young entrants.

Thx for the post Al.

It does clearly mark out the intend of linking the classic "beautiful game" to what we do

Its clear simple marketing which the mass can relate to it... hence the prize fund

Does anyone want to go to this event?  If so contact me, or post here, before next Monday (13th) - if two or more players want to compete (Rob is entitled in any event) then the player with the highest combined UK ranking (average on all tables) will get the nod - unless the committee decides some other method should be used in the meantime.

St Vincent is beautiful, but a bit of a b*gger to get to via public transport.  Nearest airports are Milan Malpensa or Torino (Turin), with Ryanair going to Orio al Serio at Bergamo (like calling Liverpool airport Manchester...).  For accommodation details check any of the previous ITSF World Championships infopackages.

Boris, trains from Milan and Turin are a doddle - it's just a very short taxi ride from the local station to st vincent.
