World Cup/Championship - Hamburg - April 2017

I thought I'd create this post so that people can discuss travel and hotel arrangements to make sure no one travels/stays alone and it's always nice for as many team GB players to stay at the same hotel and travel together.

I'm staying at the Ibis Styles Hamburg Alster City from Monday to Monday.

Callum, myself and our dads are also booked into the Leonardo Hotel Hamburg City Nord.

It is one of the cheapest and also close to the airport and venue.

We are staying from Wednesday to Monday.

Matty.

Morning all,

I may be close to Hamburg at the same time as the championships and wondered if it is generally open to those who are not participating? I couldn't find any info on their website yet but I was curious if this would be possible and if there'd be entry fees etc.
Does anyone know how this is typically done?

Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam,

As far as I remember from the last event, it was open and free to the casual spectator. Come along and feel free to say hello in a quieter moment; I will be the men's team coach. :)

All the best,

Andrei

Ok so our barmy army of travelling supporters will include Darren Warr, Rachel Warr, Mel Oakes and Martin Landers.

Is there any way these four can be added to any GB squads as coaches or supporters/delegates to avoid having to pay the entry fees?

Seems a bit harsh that the parents of playing juniors have to stump up 40 euros each to watch, so junior coaches perhaps?

The deadline to submit is 28th Feb.

Cheers Matty.

Hmm yes, perhaps two could be junior coaches and two others could be assigned to the women's and senior men's teams?

Any objections?

Darren has been junior coach for the last few years anyway so if we could just add Rachel.

Mel and Martin are at senior age so would be ideal to join their squad as part of a support group?

We can't have junior coaches when there's not a junior team.

I've asked Mel to be the official women's coach.

I suggest the following:

(Extra Support: no kit or responsibilities.)
Men's extra support coach - George Eid
Women's extra support coach - Darren
Senior's extra support coach - Benge

That leaves Martin and Rachel who could be our 2 extra delegates?

If I've missed anyone else please let me know.

Ok so would it be possible to submit as Jody proposed and have Martin & Will as delegates?

Leave out Rachel and we can bite the bullet and pay for her.

On another point are we going to be able to get hold of any of these new Garlando balls before Hamburg? Seems kind of important seeing as it is quite a few of our home tables.

We just need Andrei/Steve to confirm that this is OK with them to add an extra "support coach" under their team.

You can buy a ball here - best check with ITSF if it is the new one before buying though. http://www.table-soccer.org/store/fr/eq ... -ball.html
