Post by Natalia » Mon Apr 09, 2012 5:24 pm

Hi, my name is Natalia and I am new here. Does anyone can tell me where can I play in foos here?? It is very hard to find a table and also didn't heard about a local league.

Any answer will be useful for me :)

Hi Natalia, welcome to the forum.

Sadly, I am unaware of any table football activity in Scotland. I don't think we have a single venue listed up there. However, Rileys snooker clubs (http://www.rileys.co.uk) do have Garlandos in nearly all of their venues in England and Wales so there may well be one in their Edinburgh club. I'm unsure, but that will probably be your best bet.

Let us know if there is anyone playing up there!

Joe.

Having a look at our venue listings - http://www.britfoos.com/venues/map - it does show a couple of venues with tables in the city, but I am unsure if the tables will still be there.

Hope this helps anyway.

Hi Natalia

Last time I was up there they had occasional sessions at Rush just off Cowgate, but although the table was free it was also in very sorry condition. Southsider used to have a Garlando glasstop. I remember a famous night in the Bare Story on Cowgate in '98 when I first came back to the game and made the local champs 'crawl' under the table by 9-0 ing them 1-v-2 !!! Would have let them score if they hadn't been so arsey!

Unfortunately apart from short-lived Uni societies at Edinburgh & Heriott Watt there has never been an organised scene in Scotland, although we have had players join from Borders to Aberdeen. Your best bet is probably Rileys where at least you will have a decent quality table and it you talk to the manager he or she will probably be keen on getting a regular scene together and may put up prizes for competitions. If you find a few players then form a club and you should attract more.

The other thing I would suggest is going through this forum and private-messaging everyone who has posted in it over the past 2-3 years to arrange a session and/or form a club.

Edinburgh University currently has a society run by a couple of postgrads. I believe they play on Fireball and meet every week. I will get more information if I can.
