North East Players

Post by Boris » Mon Apr 07, 2008 11:36 am

I've had a couple of overseas players ask recently about venues in the North East:

It's Ilya Gorshkov from St-Petersburg, Russia.

Recently I found out my job moves me to "Nissan Sunderland" plant...  As I'm  somewhere around Tyne and Wear for months I'm looking for some advice on a Garlando competitive spot out there.
Or maybe you could name someone from this area I can turn to about that?
I'm planning to hang around the surrounding areas on weekends, too - so if there will be some bigger  tournaments on the North of England I might be there  to provide everyone with some easy gained wins).

as a passionate German player, I went on a quest to find some decent
venues in the Newcastle area. Things are looking grim, though.
I've been to The Waterline, and they don't have a table. Even asked one
of the staff, didn't know anything about there ever been one.
As for The Market Lane, I've seen no table either. Turned out they
removed the table because of a re-fit, and won't put it back in, see
also their webpage
For the Fog & Firkin, it says "Last Update Deleted 10/02". Does that
mean that there is no table anymore?

I may try some of the other venues on your list in the future, but maybe
you know a local player who could give me up-to-date info.

Here is a list of Britfoos subscribers from the North East region.  I suggest you contact each other by Private Message or using this thread to arrange playing sessions.

Ilya came for a few games last week . I have invited Michael to come along but so far no reply. Annual plea :anyone else in the North East is always welcome for a few games at my place. Could arrange transport if necessary.

Boris, many thanks! With this list it should be possible to organize a meet-up of the top 10 :)  foosball players in the northeast.

Brian, thanks again for the invitation! I've been pretty busy at work and in life in general. I should be able to find time in May, I'll contact you!

If anyone would like a game in the north east I would be happy to have one! I have a table we can play on and should also be getting a professional Garlando table anytime soon (if anyone knows of a reasonably priced one in the north east let me know!) I will be coming along to the league too if possible :)

Hi Jamie.
Glad to hear you might be joining our league. There is currently a Garlando Coperto on ebay in Hetton-le-Hole,Tyne and Wear.We have 10 of these in red, white and blue situated in pubs and clubs around the north east and use one of these and a World Champion on our league meetings so this would be a great starter table to practice on.It finishes in 5 days time.
I was going to have a bid on it mainly for spares but five of us from the league are going to Austria to compete in the Garlando World Championships in 4 days so I will miss it finishing. The legs and rods do detach but you would need a large hatchback and 2 people to transport it.
Did you ever get to play Brian? He is a member of the league and two others travel down from Shields and Durham as well.
Hope to see you in the future.

Regards Matty.

Hi all,
I have a Fireball table ready for use from 03/09/2012 (we're having a small refurb at the moment).

My bar is Eye on the Tyne on Newcastle quayside.

I'm hoping to drum up some interest around the table as I am told there are only 2 or 3 of the Fireball tables in the area.

If anyone is interested in setting up a night or has any suggestions all are welcome.
