Tornado & 2 x Garlando @ Rileys Manchester (Deansgate)

Post by AK47 » Mon Mar 19, 2007 10:06 pm

After weeks of trying to get a Tornado table into Rileys, it's finally happening.

The 24th of March will see a brand-spánking new table installed, courtesy of Foos4Fun, and events will be organised between George (ex-Hard Rock Casino guru) and myself.

I will keep you all up-to-date on the regular evenings at the club.

This is an extra venue to accompany the Rainbow in the North West and a progression from the Hard Rock Casino scene, which George built fantastically. If you have any suggestions or want any more info, post a message below.

Parking

It's actually much easier to park than one would expect, without having to pay exorbitant NCP charges:

1.) Road behind Deansgate: St Mary's Parsonage. This is very hit and miss, and is the first place anyone tries around Deansgate. Very convenient IF you can get in (one minute walk).

2.) Opposite Harvey Nichols on Victoria Bridge Street (one-way road). Very often spaces throughout the night (three minute walk). Click HERE to view the map.

3.) On Deansgate itself near AMC Cinemas. Again, very hit and miss (four minute walk).

4.) Chapel Street, or side-roads off of it, near the Lowry Hotel. LOADS of parking around here, but should always be the last place you look (four minute walk). Click HERE to view the map

All of these spaces are FREE after 6pm and unrestricted until 8am, Mon - Sat. Sunday parking is FREE at all times in these locations. DO NOT park on double-yellow lines, otherwise you WILL get towed.

This shouldn't need to be said to most of you if you already park near the Rainbow, but leave nothing on show in your vehicle, remove any stereo 'faces' and a decent anti-theft device is advised. I've parked in all of these spaces for over a year now and not even had a scratch on my car.

During the day, it's a little more difficult to park for free. There are spaces outside the city centre, about a ten-minute walk away, in side-roads off of Great Ducie Street. Of course, during the day there is far less risk of damage/theft, but conscientiousness is still necessary.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Sweet!

Post member info AK. (As I remember it, Rileys is more expensive than Rainbow, though still not extortionate by any means.)
I love this stupid game!

Membership will not be necessary if you simply turn up on the Thursday evening and say you're with the foosball lot.

Cheers!

Can I just post here to say we HAVE to use this venue well.

If the table proves worth having for Rileys they may well replicate in other venues - and the impact this would have on the game would be enormous! So can everyone North of Birmingham (lol) go and visit this place every week... you are doing us all a favour!

Cheers guys and TOP work for getting a table there.

Jon

You can add me to the list please.   :D

I agree with Jon and Mase.  If we can make an impact on Riley's then the UK Foosball scene will explode.

What will that mean?  Well foosball everywhere, massive tournaments with massive prizes (we used to win 'all expenses paid' trips to the World Championships in the US for 10 to 14 days!!!!!!!!!!!!).  What about winning an event in the UK and winning a car as a prize?

TV coverage, press coverage, the standard of play growing and growing, Foosball as an Olympic Sport -

I could go on and on and hopefully I have fired your imagination of what we can create and achieve.

For Foosball

Rob

Btw - See you guys there on Saturday for a few games before we head back home to Bristol  - say between 2 and 4pm

If we develop a good foos scene in Rileys Manchester, I will definitely recommend to my superiors to install more tables nationwide.

Only time, and your support, will tell.

I was wondering about this, as I remember it's not the best for parking though there is an NCP nearby. There is parking in streets off Deansgate, but good luck getting a space on a Friday :?

ID & Bags

Post by AK47 » Thu Mar 22, 2007 8:52 pm

Richard B wrote:do you need any I.D. to join and can you take bags in to Rileys?
No ID is really necessary, unless you look particularly young.

I should point out that Rileys Manchester is an over-18s club at all times, and if you are lucky enough to look under-21, you may be asked for ID at any time.

If you bring ID with you at the time of joining and ask for it to be noted on your membership that ID has been seen by the management, then you will not require it in future.

Acceptable ID is a Driving Licence or a passport only.

Bags are allowed in, yes, but please respect the club by refraining from bringing in your own food and drinks. My staff work hard and we provide excellent service; our efforts should reflect on the business.

Finally, staff and club abuse will NOT be tolerated, though I would be surprised if anyone on here would treat my staff and the club with anything less than 100% respect. Treat us how you would expect to be treated and we will do likewise.

Anyway, enough of the rules: get playing!

Table will be installed just after lunchtime on Saturday, by the way. I expect it to be up and running for 3pm should everything go well with travelling, etc.

George will be there overseeing the installation and getting excited from 1pm-ish, I would think.
