What happened to the others?

Bad luck the Chetwynd A in their match against Warwick II. It was obviously a close game - only losing 9-11 and that due to sweat ball defeats in the final two doubles matches (I am led to believe).

Good luck to the Chetwynd B team in thir match gaainst Warwick I on Thursday. lets hope the pitches are n't frozen.

I'm not sure who took the scoresheet. That's from memory.

Will there be a DYP in the Chetwynd on Friday or is there a BFA league match on?

Having missed Liverpool I'm quite keen to have a few games.

If there is one on would you mind reminding me what time it is - I haven't been up there for ages.

Massive turnout on Fri Feb 2nd

Post by Paul Addison » Fri Feb 09, 2007 8:01 pm

Possibly our biggest ever turnout led to nine teams competing in the DYP.

There was a massive shock when clear favourites Paddy and John Worthington lost 5-3 to Steve Haddon and Suki. A result they never really recovered from. The early threat came from Dominic and Nick ( suprise return visit and much welcomed) who looked like they were going to run away with the prize money. Howvever Bill Ormerod and Dominic Hastings took complete control winning all 8 matches. Second were Mick Parsons and Paul Barratt with Dominic and Nick finishing third. Final table below:-

Team Won Lost F A GD Pts
Bill&Dom    8 0 40 11 29 40
Mick&PaulB    6 2 36 22 14 30
Nick&Dom2    5 3 30 25 5 25
Paddy&John   3 5 30 29 1 15
Noel&Chris    3 5 28 32 -4 15
PaulA&Rob    3 5 24 32 -8 15
Steve&Suki    3 5 24 34 -10 15
Deg&Tom    3 5 24 35 -11 15
Scott&Roger   2 6 26 35 -9 10

The regular monthly mini-tournament brought a mixture of old and new players with Jo partnering Nick and the return of Bruce who managed to carry paul Addison. There was controversy following this Friday's DYP when Tom appeared to have won by one goal when two scores had not been recorded. Scores were finally chased up via e-mail. Due to this misinformation and much drunkenness no payment was made and the phenomenal prize fund of £12 will be paid out next Friday to the eventual winners - Chris and Dominic and runner-up Tom, who gets a prize of £2. The winners sharing the remaining £10.

Team Won Lost F A GD Pts
Chris&Dom    4 1 24 16 8 20
Tom    4 1 23 18 5 20
PaulB&Scott   3 2 21 16 5 15
Paddy&Phil    2 3 21 22 -1 10
PaulA&JohnW 1 4 17 22 -5 5
Derek&Roger 1 4 11 24 -13 5

The results of the next set of games was far more important, with me and Phil spanking everyone.

I think last night's winners were Chris and Derek but everything was over-shadowed by the fact that we can no longer put the second table where the dart board is. Below is a copy of a message I have put on the main chat page

Last night we arrived at the Chetwynd to find both tables in the same space next to the bar. We managed to play using both tables but it was very tight and no-one really enjoyed it. We are no longer allowed to play where the dart board is. The landlord is attempting to find a solution but things are not looking good. We may need to find another pub. I have started to design a flyer advertising the benefits of table football to local pubs. Has anyone produced something similar that I can look at?

I have sent copies of a basic flyer to Bill, Derek, John and Roger. If anyone has any ideas or wants to help with the flyer please let me know. We are still playing our match with the Bush Daddies tonight but may only be able to use one table

Great news - things seem to be returning to normal in the Chetwynd. We had a great time tonight with the match against the Bush Daddies. The landlord had set up the second table on the raised area and addded a light above it. Darts players joined in the table football and sanity seems to have returned.

Congratulations to Rob, Martin, Nigel and Dave from the Bush on their 16-4 victory. Some great matches and a couple of very close sweat balls. Fabulous atmosphere with all matches played in a gentlemanly manner with interpretations of the rules that can only come with wisdom and maturity.

An excellent DYP followed with victory in the League going to Chris & Roger with second place going to Derek & Rob.

More detailed results to follow.

Of course you will get some games. Most of the regulars should be there. Both tables will be in operation. We start to arrive about 8:30 onwards. Look forward to seeing you.

Record attendance at Chetwynd DYP

Post by Paul Addison » Sat Mar 10, 2007 7:05 pm

A massive turnout of 19 players filled the results' sheet in last night's DYP. Thanks to Alina and Brendan for coming from Towcester and of course Dominic and Nick for travelling from Chetenham nad Leicester respectively.

It was a marathon contest based upon the usual round-robin/League format with every team playing each other once in a first to 5 match. Eventuaal winners were Steve & Chris who won the play off against Paul and Paddy 5-2. The play off talk place under the Barratt ruling where if two team stie there is a play-off if three teams tie it is decided on goal difference.

League positions as follows

Team    Won Lost F A GD Pts
Chris&Steve    8 1 44 21 23 40
PaulA&Paddy   8 1 42 24 18 40
Derek&John     6 3 38 26 12 30
Nick&PaulB      6 3 35 26 9 30
Alina& Bill      5 4 38 28 10 25
Scott&Roger    4 5 29 36 -7 20
DomH&Helen   3 6 26 37 -11 15
Mick&Dom      2 7 27 39 -12 10
Phil&Brendan   2 7 16 40 -24 5
Mark      1 8 23 41 -18 5
