Temple squared

Post by Mogwai » Fri Mar 16, 2007 1:56 pm

Who wants to play for the temple next term in cuppers. I've got a huge list of potential squad members but would be nice to know how many can be regular. I have so far:

Regulars:
Shovo
Tom King
Myself
Pete F
Chris Eskiwiviz
Alex Rapp

Irregulars (those who can't fully commit):
Cath
Worthington
Ganderton(?)
Stumpy(?)
Dave C

Highly Irregulars:
Blanchard
Mel Walley

Potentials:
Chris Sinclair
Mike Hart
Chris Eskiw's Lady friend

Thats 16 so far, surely enough for two cracking teams! I'd happily captain one of them.

Any other suggestions?

Dave

Or shall I revive the Duke then.

Yes please

Still think it's best to have one team, with one captain and a vice captain. Less work.

But there you go.

I'll do a shared captaincy thing, but not the full thing as I don't have full internet access or much time.

Just some thoughts

I don't think we sould have one team as we'll just bum everyone.

I was hoping to get it more balanced.

Don't mean to sound negative, but I doubt you'll be able to get 12 people committing to several matches.
1st team would be fine, as you can always pilfer 2nd team players when you find that some of your 6 can't make it any given tuesday, but the 2nd team would really struggle to get a full team. I was always struggling to get a full team a couple of years ago, and that was with a squad of 12 or so. Student teams don't have as many distractions as the temple team players (e.g. jobs, families, long commuting distances, mental retardations, canadian ancestry, etc), ergo they just can't commit to every match.

If you want balance you just need to pick a team with some n00bs and some pros. You don't HAVE to put out your strongest team everytime.

I'll be able to play some matches, but can't commit to anything concrete.

All the best,
Naeem PooPoo

Ok I'm setting up my own pub team, dunno where the home venue will be, probably temple, possibly the Duke so we can draft in some old Duke players. I've got some of my old ChCh Chums to join so far:

Definite:
Me
Tom King
Raph Espinoza

Maybe:
Chris Sinclair (haven't contacted yet but local)
Mike Hart (?) - moonlighted for ChCh a few times

So we would probs only need one or two more regular people, that should leave plenty for the old temple team as I'd only be stealing tom king.

Played on the duke table last night, and apart from being really dirty with eggs for balls the table was otherwise ok. One defender bar was a little stiff, but I would have thought a bit of tender loving lube would do the job. So stick some magic balls in, give it a clean up with a bit of pledge and away you go...

I think WC05 bahrenherz balls are better in blocky foot garlandos.

I'm gonna play for Catz in cuppers.  :D

I presume Cuppers is starting fairly soon (this is 0th Week) - has anything been finalised re team reshuffling?

If Shovo's going back to Catz and the ChCh boys are doing their own thing, the Temple squad should be back to a reasonable size (and therefore not worth splitting into two teams).  I count:

Dave C
Cath
JW
Me
Stumpy
Chris
Alex

That's only 7 players, unless I've missed some.  So who's captain?

From Memory, Dave C wasn't much up for it, so someone else may have to take the reigns...

Looking at the trains it seems better to go to Worcester/Great malvern and change there.
Still going....
