Venue Listings - please tell us about new or dead venues

Post by Boris » Thu Feb 22, 2007 6:14 pm

A full list of venues appears on the BFA venue listings page:
http://www.britfoos.com/WhereToPlay/Locations.php

However most of these listings are at least 5 years old, and probably well over 50% will no longer have tables.  If you are thinking of visiting a venue please ring in advance to avoid disappointment.

Please check the venue listings in your area and using this thread let us know about any new venues, dead venues (no longer has a table etc), changes of name or details etc.

This will allow the venue listings to be kept more up to date.

Tip - If you want to find out about new venues the best way is to find out who operates pool tables/jukeboxes/bandits in your local pubs (usually the operator has a sticker with a phone number) and give them a ring to ask if they have any footie tables on site locally where you can play.

2 venues in Oxford:

The Brickworks on the Cowley Road has a foos table again! :) A blue(?) pitch apparently! More details when I've checked it out myself...this is info from a friend.

While I'm here...the pub on Temple Road in Cowley has what looks like a decent blocky foot garlando, glass top. Dan Gallon knows the name of the pub - I can't remember it!

The Cricketers? Port Mahon also has a garlando.

We need to do another foos crawl this summer to check out venues.

It's in shocking condition, though.  Clearly no-one there uses it - they keep it stored against the wall and you have to move various sofas to get it out.  The rods are stiff - basically it hasn't been maintained properly since they got it.

Ok so one thing we could do on our foos crawl is to speak to each landlord, see if we can put up an A4 laminate sheet or something to promote Oxford League and National league and britfoos address, etc. Then people know who to contact if they want to join anything or play for fun.

The owner of the Port Mahon (he also owns the Hobgoblin on the Cowley road) is up for discussion about tables (perhaps we can even get better tables in there when his contract runs out), interested about the leagues, etc.

The Zodiac Club on the Cowley Road was just bought by The Academy and is going to undergo major refurb until about September or October time (can't quite remember when!)...now would be a good time to contact them to see if we can get a foosball table in there...that would be awesome :)

Well up for a foos pub crawl :)
