Chris. Do you have to be able to attend every session to take part in the league?

Well, we accept that things will inevitably come up some weeks for players, but in general yes, if you're playing then you should be making plans to attend every week. The league seasons will vary depending on turnout, but will generally be quite short (4-8 weeks), so playing all your matches in a season shouldn't be too tall an order. The penalty for not attending is forfeiting the matches that you were scheduled to play on the weeks that you missed. Obviously it's a problem if players enter the competition then don't attend as their opponents will miss out on playing matches as well. We accept that this is a potential point where the rules might need expanding upon, but we're going to wait until we have a truer picture of how much interest there is in this competition before deciding on how to handle such situations.

My understanding of the current plan at the FoosRoom is to open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be the more casual nights where anyone can turn up and play, and Monday the more serious night. So if you think you might be able to make it down to Bristol maybe once a month then this league probably isn't for you, and the Tuesday and Thursday sessions on the other hand are perfect.

The fixtures for the first league are now up on the website, here, as are the standings after the first session.

1st Bristol Championship League

Start Date: 3rd September
Final Date: 15th October
Duration: 7 weeks

We've slackened the format a little - we welcome people to join the league at any point in the season. It's never too late to start playing.

Also, due to improvements needed on the Tournament Soccer, this first league will only be played on

  • Fireball
  • Bonzini
  • Lowen
[/size]Any questions, just ask.

Thanks,

Chris

League results up after the 2nd night of 7. Alex Shovelton makes his mark to secure the top place in the singles league taking advantage of an absent Jon May, whilst Alex Zalantai also has a great week putting him into second position. Ben Mason currently sits at third after playing a large portion of his Fireball matches in his first session. Will he be able to maintain this impressive position over his coming difficult encounters on Bonzini and Lowen? We'll find out soon enough!

League results up after the 3rd night of 7. Alex Shovelton remains top of the table after the first half of the season, securing a crucial win against an impetuous Jonathan May who is now ranked second, whilst Ben Mason remains third after surprising even himself with an impressive set of results for his first few non-Fireball matches.

The Bristol Championship has now officially ended. Final placings in the singles league are as follows:

1st: Jonathan May
2nd: Alex Shovelton
3rd: Benjamin Mason

4th: Christopher Lyall
5th: Alex Zalantai
6th: Dave Oates

The doubles league still has a few matches to be played when the players become available.

Following feedback from the players in this competition we've tweaked things slightly for our newest competition: a Fireball DYP series! Details of this competition can be found in this thread.

Thanks, and congratulations to the winners,

Chris

i very much enjoyed this and feel its competitive format makes you play better and for me helped with playing under pressure.

I also enjoyed finishing above Chris.
