Bristol TFC Sessions

Post by Jonathan may » Sat Jul 09, 2011 4:00 pm

The next BTFC session will be Tuesday 7pm at the White Harte in Bristol on Tornado!

In future we'll be looking to do Tuesdays and Thursdays - one on Garlando and one on Tornado. For the time being, until the manager of Rileys has sorted out decent Garlando balls I think we should stick to playing Tornado at the White Harte.

Given the turnout at the Handicap event last Sunday, we'll probably run those once a month to give people plenty of notice.

Look forward to seeing all Bristol players Tuesday evening at the White Harte. :-)

Great turnout last Tuesday - we'll be running again on Tuesday 19th from about 7pm at the White Harte on Tornado again. If there's decent turnout we'll put on a DYP.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at the White Harte, looks a good turnout already confirmed. The table has been replaced with the one that used to be in the Crown. See you all there!

Is Rileys the place to go on Thursdays? I have a trial in Cardiff tomorrow and if it goes 2 days I might come along.

Where are you all? I'm sitting in the Whire Harte with no one to play. Are you all out with your hoodies on?

Was a good night down the white hearte strongly reminds me of the blacklion of the old days with lots of loud music and people. Unfortunately we did not arrive until 8.30 so Chris had to go about 45 mins later but the rest of us carried on (me, al, james and alex) until quite a bit later when it was packed out with drinks at £1 per pint!

Its shut for refurb next week for a week or two so it will be somewhere different until after 1/9 .

Ok , myself, famous Al and james will be out for some foos on Thursday night about 8.15 ish or so at either Molloys for Tornado £1 play or the Colston arms for Garlando if that is preferred at £0.50p I think.

So if anyone else is going post here and which you prefer,

True , although things seem to be going that way generally and until white heart is back after refurb all the other Tornados in Bristol are on £1.

I think the WC Garlando at the Colston Arms is 50p so i suspect we will end up there.

Agreed Dave. Obviously one day, £1 play will be the norm, but imho I think it's way way too premature to expect it now.

I think that asking people to pay in excess of 10p per ball is totally unrealistic, especially in these financial times.

Again true from our point of view But this seems to be what major pub chains expect to make it worthwhile for them and in many places people seem to be paying it .

Of course as I no longer have any tables and they were all on 50 p when i did its irrelevant to me from a business point of view any more . However I can see commercially it makes sense in some venues.

We'll see.

I believe people will try it at £1 a game for a bit and then abandon it, by that I mean not play regularly, if at all.

So short term yes, but long term a white elephant. I could be wrong and as I said it's just my opinion. It's definitely not what I'd do if I was an operator and wanted to build up longevity.
