Mike Fowler said he would try to make it, but that it depends on when we are likely to finish and the time that his Gig starts on Saturday night.

me and sam will be there. i'm sure both of us would rather play with you, john, instead of each other....... but as lowly rookies, we'd only drag you down. and we quite enjoy playing (and losing) together........ bring it on!!

BYP

Post by Oatsey » Sun Dec 02, 2007 10:41 am

The DECEMBER Bank BYP

Results from this Saturday:

World Cup group format with matches played first to 5 goals best of 3 games until the final then best of 5 .

Due to no doubt Christmas etc and lots of last minute drop outs it was a
select body of 4 teams so we played two lots of world cup group rounds.

Dave o and famous Al
Sam and Donna
Rob D and MIke A
Shovo and Phareham

Huge thanks to Sam and Donna for coming all the way from London lovely to see them and it was always very close as to who was coming 3rd!!

Top qualifying team goes straight to the 'king seat' and second and third play off for the right to attempt a 'double dip' in the final, which is played best of 5 games.

World Cup Results after both rounds unsurprisingly put Rob and Mike A in king seat and me and Al lost the play off for the dubious honor of facing them.

So it was to be a mighty battle between Shovo and Dave b V Rob D and Mike A with a double dip necessary.

Shovos and Dave B won the first set    3 - 1 making it very interesting as it was £40 or £10 ! However Rob D and Mike A then fought back to prevent the double dip winning 3-1.
So :

1st Rob Davey & Mike Amsden
2nd Shovo and Dave B (phareham)
3rd Dave Oates & Famous Al
4th Sam and Donna

December Bank BYP Champions

Rob Davey and Mke Amsden

My Vegas Worlds inside  Foos DVD's showing Davey and Hamilton (out of Fishponds England   ) in all their glory being stuffed by Spreadaman Moreland and then   Atha and Yore V spreadaman , fred v atha etc  etc played all afternoon and great to watch.

thanks for a fun tournament, we had a lovely weekend in bristol..... to all those who were racked with curiosity - here is the church that we went to see yesterday...
http://www.wishful-thinking.org.uk/genu ... homas.html
it's in a village called pensford, just outside bristol, on the way to wells.  we are now the official architects on the project - it's quite derelict at the moment (the roof looks like its about to fall in!), but should make a lovely house for our friends, if we can persuade the planners and english heritage!
see you all soon!

thanks martyn,
if you're interested in their plans (they are still in the very early stages), then they were keen to get some local opinions, before they start any work on the church.  their names are paul and laura baxter, and they have planned a meeting in the local pub (the rising sun, i think) for the evening of thursday 13th december. they only complete the purchase this week, and have a big battle ahead of them with the planners, so i think the whole process will be very slow. they are only a young couple with a limited budget, so we are really doing the architectural work for them as a favour, and because it's such a great project and we want to be involved!
what do you think the locals will think of them converting the church into a residence? externally, the changes will be minimal, but the worry is that people will object to it morally, rather than aesthetically.
hope you are well,
donna
