Venue Listings - please tell us about new or dead venues

Post by Boris » Thu Feb 22, 2007 6:13 pm

A full list of venues appears on the BFA venue listings page:
http://www.britfoos.com/WhereToPlay/Locations.php

However most of these listings are at least 5 years old, and probably well over 50% will no longer have tables.  If you are thinking of visiting a venue please ring in advance to avoid disappointment.

Please check the venue listings in your area and using this thread let us know about any new venues, dead venues (no longer has a table etc), changes of name or details etc.

This will allow the venue listings to be kept more up to date.

Tip - If you want to find out about new venues the best way is to find out who operates pool tables/jukeboxes/bandits in your local pubs (usually the operator has a sticker with a phone number) and give them a ring to ask if they have any footie tables on site locally where you can play.

The Pelican in Stroud is no longer called the Pelican and has no table.
There are no tables in Stroud at the moment, though I'm working on changing that.

In Exeter, I can confirm that The Hole In The Wall no longer has a table.

However a venue not yet listed is:

The Mint
154-155 Fore Street
Exeter
EX4 3AT

It has a Garlando (50p a game) in reasonable condition but has telescopic rods and blocky feet. IMO its a better table than the one at The Bowling Green (stiffer rods, dark and cramped playing area).

The table at the Rusty Bike is really old. Barman said it was an antique french table (looked like a bonzini) and is need of servicing as the bars are really stiff.

The Bad News :(
The Bonzini table that I had placed in the Bell in Bath has been removed. There wasn't quite enough room for both my table and the blocky foot Garlando that is still there. It was also not totally inside so it made playing in the winter months a challenge.

The Good News :P
This fine ITSFish (balls and men) Bonzini has been placed in a new home
The Porter in Bath is a hip pub with a cellar bar and games room. They play good music and have live bands. It is open til midnight weekdays and til 3am on Fridays and Saturdays! Can you say late night Foos?
I will be down there Wednesdays from 8. It is also Student night so there should be plenty of people about and drinks offers I imagine.

The Porter Bar. 15 George Street Bath BA1 2QS. Telephone: 01225 424104

The plan is to do a monthly DYP or Supermele depending on numbers. I will post about that so if you are in the area keep your eyes peeled.

Hope to see y'all soon

Is anyone adding these to the venues database on an ongoing basis (or removing dead ones?). Shout here if you are.

Tich informed me that he has just placed a Tornado table (50p for 9 balls) into the following Ealing pub:

Grosvenor Arms
127 Oaklands Road
London
W7 2DT
Telephone: 020 8567 7526

Please can you update this in the venue DB?

If the table is going to stay then they're going to want to see some people there playing soon!

New ITSF Bonzini in the Full Moon Bar and Backpackers, Bristol.
This is a very popular place just off the Bear Pit by the central Bus station.
The table has 9 balls for 50p is well lit and has space around it. It is in sweet condition.
I will be going over next Thursday if anyone is up for some Gaul Foosball.

Josh has put a good bonzini in the full moon stokes croft so as its 50 p we may want to give that a go this Thursday as he is going to be there as well and then walk over to the Rs at walkabout . good practice for UKC / nantes . What do you reckon. We always go over to molloys as well if its still open!

Alex Z said yes so should be a few of us there Josh from about 8.15

New 13 man Tornado with fooslight in The Bath Brew House. 50p for 9 balls.

This is a fantastic looking new place with its own micro brewery on site, there own smoke house and spit roast too. I can see this being a very pleasant place to hang and foos.

I'll be there on Thursdays from about 7 .30
