Where to play Foosball in London

Post by Rhys » Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:08 pm

If you're looking for a game in London then these are the places where the good players regularly go to play.

If you're a newcomer then please do come along.  If you're planning to go to either the Swan or the Black Horse then it's best to check the links below first because if other people plan to go then they'll probably post there first.  Sometimes people don't turn up if (for example) there's a tournament being held somewhere in the country on the weekend.

Tuesday - Tornado

Bonzini Venue in Holloway

Post by davez » Thu Jan 12, 2012 11:46 am

I felt somewhat embarassed last nght when Rob Mares invited me to a bar a mere 10 minutes from my house which had two Bonzini tables in it, and which I did not know about!

The bar is called Big Red and it's at 385 Holloway Road, London N7 0RY.

http://www.qype.co.uk/place/71879-Big-Red-London

There were two Bonzinis. Last night one was in the dark and not in a playable position. The other one was at the back by the pool tables, playable, and in good condition, although the lighting was only just adequate. £1 for 11 ITSF Bonzini balls.

The table is a non-ITSF B60 with indivdually themed and hand painted puppets. They were VERY nice. There's a mummy, a ghoul, a dracula, and AC/DC guy etc.

I have just remembered i meant to go on here as I have stumbled across three bonzinis recently - I dont know much about the models etc but they are in the following places:

Camino - Kings Cross - http://www.camino.uk.com/kingscross/about

Big Chill House - Kings Cross - http://www.bigchill.net/house/info

Grand Union (Camden) - Camden Road Station - http://www.grandunionbars.com/camden/ - CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMWENT UNTIL JAN 26

I havent had a chance to play any of these and dont know when I will so I cant tell you if they are any good or not but at least you know they are there.

PM me if you fancy trying one of them out with me.

Went down to play on this one a few weeks ago, nice bar and rammed with potentially the "right" demographic if there is such a think. The table is very nice of course but clearly has had little action, it's badly lit, and 9 balls for a pound go pretty fast when you're demoing with beginners.

Lol. Really? I've never heard that story before...

Martyn, care to wade in? 9 balls for £1 - I believe you once said that was never going to work.

<cough>

Btw, "never going to work's" a bit harsh, I believe I said now is not the right time (caveat: imho). Besides, this is London, a loaf of bread costs £17.75.

£1 will never work.

Chain pubs do not care though, they want it priced the same as pool. Ahhh the sounds of empty coin boxes in the morning.

No better proof has ever been needed that the WhiteHarte in Bristol. When that was on 50p it did 240 in a month. rising sun on £1 did 128

Any Londoners who don't have a Garlando at home but want to get some practice in for Salzburg there is an ITSF Garlando in The Clarence in Balham. I know it is south of the river but most people make it back alive. Great pub with Awesome Pizza's. At the mo it has Magic Balls.
