ITSF
That's a pity Norm, we've had a few good games and a few laughs in previous World Champs and World Cups, we're not really cut out for 8.00am games though!

With regard to Nantes, it looks like we need to find another one or two male players to make up a team (bummer for Sharon); notwithstanding our reduced numbers and relative lack of expertise, I think it's good for the Irish to maintain a presence, but not with less than the minimum number of players. Note that if there are any ex-pat players resident for over 5 years in Ireland, and who have not played for another ITSF country then they are eligible to play for Ireland.

Cheers

Hi Jude

I share your sentiments that Norman has chosen not to go to Nantes it certainly weakens our team.
I agree that it is imperative that we send a full team.

I am very sad for Sharon who has been playing regularly.

Player's committed to attending so far

Des O Rourke
Jude Fitzgearld
Colm Bolger
Paul Dempsey
Peter Morris
John McDonald
Damian Glavin

Dave Brennan (will confirm within 7 days but it is looking good).

Maybe

Brian Fox
Eddie Williams

That is as much info as I have at this moment.

Jude do you know if Declan Egan or Karl McGlynn are interested.

There is a new foosball club now set up in NUI Maynooth under Simon Greene with 86 members albeit they are currently playing on inferior non sanctioned tables.

Des, Peter M and I are actively involved with helping them and thay will in the next few weeks have at least one Roberto Sport and one Tornado.

There are currently ongoing talks with one DIT College in Dublin and should this prove successful it could open the doors to another six DIT colleges.

We are moving in the right direction and we need to retain our current status as we develop the sport of foosball in Ireland which I hope will bring a new generation of players to represent Ireland.

Regards,

Damian

It was €10 for one years membership last time.
I am sure the Treasurer (Des O'Rourke) has all the records of fees paid, memberships and how to pay?

On a separate note Jude, are you interested in a World Championship place this year?
Singles, Doubles?

Norm.
Thanks for the info Norm, I'll try to get hold of Des and sort it out.

I'm up for any opportunity to play in Nantes so definitely interested in World Championships.

Jude

Hi Simon, sorry for the confusion, I moved the post to the Venues thread as this thread concerns the Irish team for the world Cup and World Championships.

You can create a specific thread for Maynooth within this "Irish Foosball Scene" section of the forum if you wish, well worthwhile considering the number of players you have on board, then all your current and future players will have an information source to which to refer.

In some ways what you are doing reminds me of UCD Belfield in the 1970's which was a major source of top players in a previous flowering of the game; I wish you similar success.

Colm, I don't know if you can read or not, but if you read normans post you might find the answer your looking for.

He wrote that he is considering going to play in the world championships but will not play in the world cup team. I don't blame him with all the Bloop going on. Ireland wouldn't of even had a world cup team last year or maybe even this year if it wasn't for him.

It sounds like you have alot of confidence in your game, have you ever won anything at foos apart from when your practicing by yourself? even then its close i bet.

I would back norman against you in a game of singles for as much money as you want.

Happy birthday norman!

Rob

Hi Norman

A belated happy birthday (if I had known I would have sent you a present).

As for the list I am sure any players committed to going to Nantes will confirm to the secretary or treasurer.

Colm I made my feelings known on a personal attack on you previously posted here and I will make my feelings known to you regarding your recent post aimed at Norman.

COLM your post is offensive and unwarranted and can only be of further detriment to the game of foosball and the people who play in Ireland.
( I hope the moderator sees fit to remove it.)

Norman as for your declaration that you are considering going to Nantes and playing in the World Championship but not the World Cup is to say the very least un-patriotic and shows little respect of the players willing to represent their country regardless of their talent or ability and as President of the IFA I had hoped you would be encouraging an Irish Team and setting an example as President and our NO 1 ranked player.

Two wrongs do not make a right and I am pleading with everyone to bury the proverbial hatchets and lets get on with playing promoting and developing the game in Ireland.

The fact remains that these posts are not helpful to Foosball in Ireland.

Lets get this mess sorted out and the AGM is the correct forum to do it in.

Regards,

Damian

Damian, If you are in contact with the unconfirmed players just get them to post here as requested, then there can be no doubt who is ready to go to Nantes. If it's left to verbal (or otherwise) confirmations to committee members then there is a strong chance of misunderstandings occuring.

Hi Jude/Norman

John McDonald has already confirmed to the Treasurer.
As for Brian Fox Eddie Williams and Paul Dempsey and Dave Brennan I am sure the treasurer will let ye know in time.
Dave is unsure as to his availability
But things are looking good for the other three.

Colm Bolger is still a valuable member of the team but I am pleased the Moderator removed the post.

Norman you have indeed went out of your way to assist me when I was having trouble with the Coin Mech on my table in Voodoo for which I appreciate.

Apart from your spat with Colm I am at a loss to which other players you are referring to.
Maybe you would enlighten me.

Maybe I should take Rob up on his offer of a bet on a singles match between you two and to quote Rob (any amount of money you like) if the odds were fixed at (given the disparity in the rankings) say 10 to 1and lets say €10,000 be the wager.
It could only serve for ye all to unite and screw Damian for €10,000 ye could fix the match get a couple of grand each.( ha ha) NO CHANCE

Kind Regards

Damian

Moderators request:

From now on, could we keep this thread on topic, i.e., players who are going to Nantes for either the world championships, world cup or both.

May I also suggest that future requests for enlightenment or other banter be carried out through Personal Messages or email, or even at your chosen place of worship.

Thanks

Jude (Mod)
