Finally I wanted to mention, $ days before we left for Bristol we got word a very close friend of ours was taken to hospital with terminal cancer.
Many of you may know him and some of you have played both with him and against him.
This nearly made me not go to Bristol, but with some encouragement and thinking about it I decided to go and try and forget about things for the weekend.
I can only say he was in the back of my head all weekend.
I just want to sign off with Dedicating my Open Doubles win To .............Dermot Costello 49yrs

Sorry to hear about Dermot, only met him a couple of times but he seemed like a good bloke.

Dermot was a unique character with an endearing unpredictable style, both on and off the table, he was also a very good player when in the mood - may he rest in peace

May I add my sympathy I have no recollection of meeting Dermot but from the level of respect being offered in his memory I feel I have to add mine.

Yours in foos

Very sorry to hear of Dermots passing. It was a complete shock as I did'nt even know he was
unwell. He was only 49 far too young.
I love Fireball ! I love Tornado more but mostly I love winning. But I hate cnuts whinging
about rules. Trying to put honest players off their game !

What sad news. I always had interesting chats and some good games with him when I was visiting Dublin more often a few years back. My condolences to his friends and family.
