Rules Question
Rules Question
Hey all,
Basically, I appreciate that during a time out when the ball is still in play, a player cannot "practice" (which I assume means passing the ball between men or advancing the ball in anyway). But if a goal has been scored and a time out has been taken between the goal being scored and the ball being served for the next point, can a player practice?
A one word answer will suffice (assuming it's yes or no, you pernickety so-and-sos).

Re: Rules Question
You are only allowed to practice between games, not between points or during time-outs.
Practice effectively means moving the ball in any way using the player figures.

Re: Rules Question
Practice is defined as moving the ball from one player figure to another or shooting the ball.

Re: Rules Question
So I could knock the ball around with a single man as long as it doesn't go to another player figure or shoot at the goal? 1 man tictacs here I come!davez wrote:Practice is defined as moving the ball from one player figure to another or shooting the ball.

Re: Rules Question
What about if you practice defending during a timeout or between balls?
I hated every minute of training, but I said "Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."

Re: Rules Question
Good question Joe. According to the rules it's OK, but it also says that it's at the discretion of the referee, so beware.

Re: Rules Question
Oh yeah. You were no angel in that match either. What Rich was doing was a question of a possible illegal serve not illegal practice. The issue there was that after saying 'Ready' he sometimes moved the ball fractionally before getting your response 'Ready'. It was confusing because on most occasions you did reply 'Ready' once he started moving the ball, implying that you were happy with the serve, so I let play continue, although I did warn him about it more than once. On reflection I think I should have called it every time after the first warning, irrespective of your reply. Next time I will because I know what to look for now.Joe Bundy wrote:Then why didn't you call Rich on it when he did it before everyone point in our OS match you ref'd at the UKCdavez wrote:Practice is defined as moving the ball from one player figure to another or shooting the ball.
