Guitar Hero (III)

Post by Richard » Sat May 03, 2008 10:19 am

Has anyone else got this / become addicted to this? Got it a couple of days ago (on wii - for the wii fit) and it is totally awesome... have hacked through on medium but have my sights set on completing the slayer on hard. Really struggling stringing the hammerons/pulloffs on TTFAF (even in slow) - is this a wii issue?

My only complaint is most of the songs are really a bit crap, and there is not enough proper metal (fear factory, arch enemy, machine head, trivium, cradle of filth - come on i am hardly talking fringe metal bands here).

Anyone not understanding what i am talking about should watch this:

Anyone after a bit of traditional fast guitaring.......

Search for the 'Guitar Hero Foosers' group on facebook and you might spot a few familiar names...

I tried playing it once and was terrible. It seems being able to play the guitar doesn't help at all.  :(

Completed hard, but not expert (yet). You'll need hammer ons and pull offs to be any good.

There may be some metal tracks to download, but with it's popularity, I doubt it.

Eirini is now hooked, and is currently stuck on Raining Blood on medium. Slightly amusing given she doesn't even like rock let alone thrash metal

Alex - it takes a while to convert, but playing the guitar definitely helps.

Black Magic Woman is a good song to play if you want to start getting used to Hard.

The 9 years I've been playing didn't help me in the slightest, something to do with Guitar Hero being nothing like playing a real guitar methinks.

The Lacuna Coil is probably the easiest song (an extra), i reckon 100% on expert is very doable. Cannot remember which song BMW is but will try it.

I spent a while getting up to speed on the first four songs on hard, but since then i have been racing through (most songs first attempt). i put that down to having played the guitar. Not up to level 8 however....

Other half is still totally hooked.

Black Magic Woman is a Santana song. Closer to the bottom than the top of the setlist.

Progress has been slower since starting work 10 days ago (only 1 session in that time), but i did think of one other gripe with the game..... Why can they not record/sample the real singers? I just cannot believe bands would not commit to a short re-recording session for the publicity it would give them.

The other half is looking for a wii fit but all the shops are continually sold out. the xbox designers must be going green with envy.

I got a wii fit for the missus last week. Went into PC world 3 days in a row and got lucky on the 3rd time of asking. Some of the games on there are great fun, using the scales as a snowboard is a good laugh.

Novelty...

Grab a decent dance mat, a pc adapter and a copy of stepmania. It's actually fun and really good exercise.

Easiest FC (Full Combo) on Expert for certain.
Then you get the first three tiers of career mode quite easily.
The hardest 100%'s that aren't impossible and are reachable goals are cliffs of dover and impulse.
