I was just talking to James Littlefair at the weekend about the Red Cow tournament in Exeter in August 1998, interesting to see who won Novice Singles (Charly Frießem - current ITSF No 2 mens singles player!).

It would be nice if some of the veteran players (Brian H, Martyn, Eddie etc) could share their experiences of foos before the current era - particularly the days of Brighouse TF Co and Tournament Soccer in the 1970s and 80s, as well as the 'Dark Ages' between the end of TS and the start of the modern era represented by the BTFA (e.g. any UK Löwen tournaments). Anybody play in the televised Indoor League tourneys on ITV hosted by Freddie "I'll Si'Thee" Trueman?

Main sequence starts at 8.14 and continues until the end of the show.

I came to the game at the end of the Brighouse era, reaching the QFs of the Northern Regionals in Bradford and the Nationals at Warwick Uni (probably the longest-lived uni for foos in the UK) in 1978, before I'd got any good - I think the event was won by a young Tanny Iqbal. I missed out on the TS era except for a local event at the Wapentake heavy metal bar in Sheffield in the early 80s - there was no internet in those days.

I believe Geof Brice, Sarah's dad played in the Indoor League.
