New Designer table

Post by susjo » Mon May 19, 2008 9:23 pm

Hello,

Just surfing around looking for a new table I found this...
http://www.designkicker.de/kicker2_int.html
Does anyone know it or could I get some pro or cons, I could a least mention one my self, the price...

Thanx

Looks like a Spanish Futbolin table.

The handles don't look very comfortable.

Garlando vs Designer table

Post by susjo » Wed May 21, 2008 5:43 am

I think I am going to choose between this and some sort of Garlando, probably a pro champion.

How would your recommendation be?

Garlando - the expensive table looks very different to most European tables.

Buying that table would be a major folly.

To help you pick a table, please answer this question: Why do you want a table?

Some possible answers:

1) To look really great in your room and impress your friends
2) To have a fun table to play on regularly with your friends
3) To play on a type of table that other players will also have so you can play  with and against them on equal terms
4) To practice and play on a table that is used in tournaments, because you want to play tournaments, either now or later

You can pick more than one, but put them in order.

Also, how much money do you want to spend?

Dave

In the old days the BFA had to be table independent and this led to clear issues with regards to inferior tables, which in theory it would have to promote equally. Price was certainly no guide to playability, as those dodgy spanish monsters prove (at £2k each).  This table could play as good as it looks, but i would wager it wouldn't.

The updated wording in the constituition talks about being able to promote "officially recognised tournament tables", so without saying "dont buy this it probably plays like a turkey" a more diplomatic response is to point you in the direction of one of the tournament tables (and the garlando is one).

(note i dont represent the BFA and am not trying to, but just explaining so you do not mistake us for just bitching about a table we do not know ... it is just there is a history of people trying to promote novelty tables that are no good)

None of them!

If you want to play UK (or international) tournaments, buy a Tornado F5.
If you want to play tournaments on the continent, buy a Lehmacher P4P or a Tecball.
If you want innovation, looks and style, as well as playability, buy a flix libero --> http://www.flix.eu/de/libero/libero/start/
If you want maximum playability for minimum price, buy a Fireball --> http://fireball-kicker.de/webshop/

The designkicker is expensive, ugly and won't play like anything serious. The Garlando is one of the two worst official tournament tables (next to the Roberto Sport).

Many people, many opinions....

To give you a answer Davez, answer no. 2 must be the one for me. Were are just going to play for fun with some friends. Why I mentioned the designerkicker was that I actually could get it for about 700£.
The 700£ is what I would use if it was possible to do a very good deal else the amount is no more than 500£! So what would you recommend.

Could anybode answer me what the difference between Tornado and Garlando tables are as I thought they were very similar!

Or does anybody know a link to the differences og the tables?

Sounds like you should get a table you like the look of then. Either go for your designer table or pick up a 2nd hand table on eBay, which would probably be a Garlando (The Italian kind) or a Bonzini (the French kind).

Good luck, let us know what you do!

That's sad at all. There's no need to make it worse, is it?

Which means you can trust his judgement if it comes to table football, doesn't it?

Probably found the table

Post by susjo » Thu May 29, 2008 5:49 am

As a special EURO2008 deal I can get this table

http://www.soren-sogaard.dk/Prod/fodbold/62574.asp

for about 400£. It almost the same as Garlando Pro Champion, the only difference is that it has telescopic rods else it is the same.

As well as telescopic rods this table also has the small plastic 'toilet-pull' handles rather than the cylindrical wooden-plastic handles used in tournament models, which make a big difference to shooting (particularly the snake shot).  Also check that the player feet are not blocky (rectangular) but the rounded shape as used in tournament tables.  It is difficult (but not impossible) to pin the ball with blocky feet.

The main problems with telescopic rods are
(a) They stick if either inner or outer rod gets bent in any way
(b)  The gap between player and side-wall can exceed ball width allowing unstoppable wall-passes.
(c)  Telescopic 2-rods tend to bow when shooting a long pull shot from the back leading to fluffing the shot or own-goals, the far man can actually go over the ball if you try to shoot a Tornado-style long recoiled pull.
(d)  The 'feel' and balance are slightly different, particularly with rollover shots.
