We have received agreement from ITSF to postpone finalisation of the Junior team until after the tournament at Keele in November. The Junior Doubles winners will therefore receive the Wild-Card nomination to represent GB in the World Championships and the Junior World Cup. There is also a possibility of sponsorship for the Juniors.

Hi,

just to clarify the senior and junior players for the actual World championship event.

Do we have two teams/slots in each?

If so for Junior is that

Singles , Luke and james?

Doubles, luke and James plus Keele winners

For Senior

Singles , Dave Ziemann and Dave oates

Doubles , Dave Z and Chris Haddon plus ?

Yes, there are Wild-Card slots available for senior and junior doubles.

For Juniors, the winners of Keele JD will be invited to compete for GB as our Wild-Card Junior Doubles team and to complete the Junior World Cup team.

For seniors, a decision on the wild-card SD slot will be made by committee, the options are either to hold a trial at Keele, or pick the wild-cards from the exising Senior world-cup squad (excluding myself).

Ok thanks Boris,

Holding a trial at keele seems daft to me given its unlikely many seniors not DZ and Chris h will even be there let alone be the best players!!

So my vote is just pick a team from the people going which you think is the best you can pick.

And by the way just so there is no doubt I don,t care at all whether I am in it or not as singles and team event is fine for me!

You're right Dave it's daft. It'll be a team picked from the World Cup team.

Good, Martyn and Paul M could be a good team and that then gives everyone (not Boris as on committee) another event to play in not just the team event which seems a good thing to me e.g.

Dave Z singles , doubles and team
Chris H doubles and team
Dave Oates , singles and team
Martyn , doubles and team
Paul m doubles and team

Not trying to influence anything obv!

Dave, as you were at at the UKC an ready to play doubles, you should get first refusal on that spot, in my opinion. So if you are happy to forego it, then I am absolutely happy with the Paul Mart(i)(y)n Harris idea.

Given your vast experience internationally you are the obv team captain in my view also.

To have virtually all the team playing in two events makes for more fun and more worthwhile going for everyone in my view.

I reckon with some serious practice beforehand we have a pretty good team really.

Hi Boris

Hope you are well

Re World Cup in Nantes

There is a 12 year old Foosball prodgy who has emerged tghrough our league - he's beats all the best local players easily. What we he need to do to play for England in the forthcoming world cup - I'd fund his travel and entrance fees?

Also - myslef and a two friends would like to travel to Nantes and watch the Tournamement - do you know anyone who could offer advice in this regards, specifically around the venue i.e. do we need tickets, travel and hotels.

Kind regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

The winners of Junior doubles at the upcoming tournament at Keele University (http://forum.britfoos.com/forum/viewtop ... f=1&t=7760) will qualify to represent the UK as one of our two Junior doubles teams in Nantes, they will also become part of the Junior World Cup team. There are no entry fees for the World Cup, but all other expenses would need to be paid for.

Re: Coming to Watch. It's a great Idea, 90% of the tournament regulars in the UK haven't had seen anything like the World Cup, even playing for the UK in a Nations Cup event at a World Championship series tournament doesn't compare, and you'll get to see all the best players in the world. Last year I'm pretty sure it was free to just turn up and watch, the only security they had was to stop us taking beers into the stands! There are plenty of hotels/hostels in Nantes (it's a lovely city too, I'm hoping to actually see some of it this year!).

All the info you need is here - http://www.itsfworldtour.com/index.php?id=228

Hi Everyone

Re forthcoming world cup

Myself and two pal's have booked up for 5 days in Nantes to support the England Team to world cup victory.

Will we get to meet players?

Can anyone provide any information about where they'll be hanging out?

Or would anyone we willing to jot down a few words on what we might expect.

We'll be having a wonder around sampling the local pubs too so any recommendations on where to go would be welcome, especailly those with Foos tables. We're stopping near the town centre.

Regards

Martin

Hi,

don,t worry you will get to meet loads of players from all countries . You will also be able go to a few restaurants and bars in town no problem with some of us I am sure!

JP the coach of the senior Gb team is from nantes so knows where to go i suspect. If not i found a few good ones last time i was there!

As to playing foosball you will be able to do that all day.
