I presume it's all to do with Boz's bizarre plan of making every post a "global" announcement, which appear at the top of every sub-forum. I presume it only updates the informaton for the topics actully in each forum and not for global posts copied there by the use of the global selection option.
Still going....

Ah yes - I hadn't noticed it was global across the forums, cheers Dan, that explains it!

I only set posts as global to give people no excuse not to read them, and even then only for a limited time, they get edited back to normal once the time limits have expired.

Due to excessive registration attempts and a broken captcha, I've rolled out this slightly different version of the theme.

I'm aware of some of the graphical glitches....

On the plus side, Polls now work..

Righto, for various reasons (mainly template/theme and core files getting out of sync) I've nuked the entire phpbb3 install and started from a fresh code base.

Please bear with me as I reupload avatars, and a few other bits and bobs.

I've managed to 'refind' the button which displays location + real name alongside the topic posts.
Isn't that nice?

Also, just for Boris, post timeout time changes from 14000 seconds to 18000 seconds (that's 5 hours boz, FIVE HOURS.)

14000 seconds as was? I was timing out at around 3000!

Boris, before posting especially with a lengthy post you don't want to lose, select all, Ctrl C. Then if you time out you can just paste what you had written previously.

Please note, I'm in the process of moving over the main drupal sites to a different server.

To prevent databases getting out of whack, I've disabled the preReg for the Bath tourney.

The forum will remain where it is for now.

This has largely been done now, and the DNS is kicking in slowly.
If anyone spots any teething problems (will be broken links/images etc) please let me know.

NOTE (this one for techies really):

The main VPS server is now on Centos 5.6, which includes PHP 5.3, which is quite different from 5.2: whilst I've patched Drupal as needed, please let me know if you spot any odd stuff :)

At some point I'll move the forum over too, but I need to test PHPBB3 under PHP 5.3 and MySQL 5.1x

I've now implemented a mod which puts the text of a PM in the notification email itself.
Please let me know if you come across any errors.

I guess one down side of this is that using the outbox to check whether a recipient hasn't actually read your message is no longer a reliable indicator.

On balance though, receiving the message in the email itself is probably better so yes, Thanks Tom.

I would like to suggest we revert the mod, despite how convenient it is.

When someone sends a PM, the recipient is immediately notified.

If you then edit or remove the PM, they have still read the original version (in their email).

This is potentially undesirable given that PMs can be deleted or edited, and particularly undesirable given the familiarity most people on the forum have with the edit button.
