BFA League Finals (BFA Premier League)

Post by Boris » Fri Jan 09, 2015 5:27 pm

BFA Premier League 2015

Rileys Sports Bar
Bolton Street
Liverpool
L3 5LX

Sunday 25th January 2015
Kick-Off 11.00am

The British Foosball Association is please to announce the British National Team Championships for Clubs with the winners and runners-up qualifying for the ITSF European Champions League. This event is being held in conjunction with the UK Championships for singles and doubles the previous day.

This competition is open to all BFA Registered clubs. If your club is not yet registered please do so now:
http://www.britfoos.com/node/add/club

Each team consists of 6x players, 2x doubles teams and 2x singles players per match (each player playing one position only).
• Teams are allowed to register a squad of up to 10x players for the event.
• All players must be members of their registered club and must not have competed for another club in the 2013-14 BFA League Championships.
• Clubs short of a full squad of 6x players can recruit a maximum of two unaffiliated individual BFA members or foreign associates to complete their team.
• Clubs can register 2 or more teams provided each team has a minimum of 6x registered players,

Table Types – Each team must pick a home table type for the duration of the competition.
• Garlando, Leonhart and Bonzini (B90) tables will be made available to teams for a table fee of £30 per team (any league entry fees paid to date will be offset against team fees).
• Teams may bring their own table and thus be exempt from table fees (ITSF official or recognised tables only).
• All tables must be ready for play by 10.30am on the day.
• The organisers may be able to source limited numbers of Tornado tables from a third party, but availability cannot be guaranteed, contact Boris Atha for details.

Matches – Team captains exchange team sheets before the match. Each doubles team or singles player plays their counterparts twice – ‘home’ and ‘away’, i.e. a total of 8x games per match. Each game is played first to 5 goals - unlike the regional leagues games in the BFA Premier League are not handicapped by player rank. Home team has choice of side, away team has first kick-off. If the match score finishes 4-4 the match will be declared a tie in the league stage. In the knock-out stage a 4-4 match scoreline will be followed by a penalty shootout to determine the winner. If teams are short-handed they forfeit either first singles (if 5x players) or first doubles (if 4x players in the team). Forfeited games are scored 5-2. Two games are started simultaneously, one on each table (i.e. S1-S1/D1-D1 and S2-S2/D2-D2).

Pre-Registration is mandatory. (as we have to be able to ensure the right balance of tables are available)
The competition is limited to a maximum of 24x teams.
Available tables will be allocated on a first come first-served basis.
Team captains must submit their team name, club name, chosen table, and full names, year of birth and nationality of their squads (6-10 players). A short-handed team squad must contain a minimum of 4x players.
Please use the league entry form - http://www.britfoos.com/bfa-league/registration as it has not been possible simply to revise it to a Premier League entry form.

Entry Fees
Teams bringing their own table on the day – Free
Winners of regional leagues in 2014 – Free (if league entry fee paid)
All Other Teams - £30 per team (covers use of table - Note teams who have paid entry fees for the 2013-14 BFA League Championship will have these offset against any Premier League entry fee due)

Competition Format - The competition will involve a round-robin group stage followed by a knock-out, the format will depend on the number of teams entering, i.e.:

No of teams No of groups Teams per group KO stage(s)
2-3 1 2-3 Final
4-6 1 4-6 SF, Final & 3/4PO
7 1 7 Final & 3/4PO
8-12 2 4-6 SF & Final/PO
13-15 3 4-6 QF, SF & Final/PO
16-24 4 4-6 QF, SF & Final/PO

Group stages – Each team plays each other team in the group, with the top 2 teams qualifying for the knock-out stage. Placings are decided as follows:
Points – 2 points for a match win, 1 point for a 4-4 tie
Game Difference
Goal Difference

Knock-Out Stage - A team is declared the winner when they have won 5x games. Any games in progress should be completed but any unplayed games should not be played. In the event of a 4-4- tie in game scores, the match result shall be decided via a penalty shootout.

Penalty Shootout: Each team nominates 6 players in running order and a designated goalie. Teams toss to shoot first. Each team has choice of side on their home table.
Each penalty taker has one possession on the 3 rod on their home table to score against the opposition’s designated goalie (15 second time limit).
The team with the highest score after all 6 players have taken a shot is declared the winner.
Sudden Death - If scores are still level players take a second shot in turn and the first team to lead once an equal number of shots have been taken is declared the winner.
A shot is declared taken when the ball has left the possession of the 3-bar, and declared missed once the ball has either left the goalie area or has come to rest within the goalie area.

Champions League Qualification
The winners and runners-up qualify for the 2015 ITSF European Champions League. If either club is unable to compete the 3rd placed club shall be offered the wild-card place, and again if not the 4th placed club will be given the opportunity and so on.

With 8x teams the competition will have 2 groups of 4x teams each, with semi-finals and final + 3/4 playoff. Teams from the same regional league will be allocated to different groups via coin toss for each seeding group in turn - as follows:

London
Bar Kick, Wanderers

South West
Hereford/Hereford 2

North West
Lokomotiv Liverpool/Manchester Rainbow Warriors

Other
Darlington/Cambridge

Heads puts the first-named team of the seeding group in league A and the second in league B, tails puts the first-named team in league B and the second in league A.
