EGM (Bye election for BFA Womens Officer) at LWO

Post by Boris » Thu Oct 24, 2013 4:45 pm

There will be an extraordinary General Meeting of the BFA to be held at 9pm on Saturday 16th November at the Leonhart Winter Open, Capital Venue, Gloucester.

Agenda

Bye-Election for Womens Officer

As a result of the resignation of Mayya Racy, a vacancy exists on the BFA Executive Committee for the post of Womens Officer. According to ITSF regulations this position must be filled by a female member of the BFA.

The duties of the womens officer are specified in BFA policy document 4.5
She will have primary responsibility for representing and promoting the interests of women and women players within the BFA and UK tournaments, and development of the sport among women in the UK.
She will have the duty to propose policy motions where these have been decided by the Womens Commission - these should normally be accepted by the executive where they do not
(i)incur additional cost in terms of finances or other resources
(ii)infringe on the rights of players or BFA members as a whole
She will have the right to vote on general resolutions in the Executive Committee and the same general duties as other executive committee members

Applications are therefore invited from any female (full) BFA member for the vacant position.
An application has so far been received from Jody Walding.

In the event of there being only one candidate the meeting will be asked to ratify the election either nem con or via a show of hands in the event of any member verbally objecting.
In the event of there being two or more candidates a secret ballot will be held during the day at the BFA desk with voting open to all full BFA members, with the result announced at the EGM.

It is anticipated that the EGM will take less than one minute.
