Thank you very much to Steve and Mayya for putting this tournament on. It was by far the best UKC the BFA has done for a few years, and this is down to your efforts.

Thank you also to Meng, Josh, Alex, Dave, Nubbert and anyone else who I've forgotten (for which I am sorry!) for doing the setting up/down of the tables. 1st time I've seen a bit of a team effort to get it all done at the beginning + end of a tournament for a long time. It was hugely appreciated.

Thanks to Boris too for driving the tables from/to Liverpool. And to James for lots of desk manning + team event organising.

Really good team effort guys. Felt a bit like the community of old.

Also thanks to the Riley's staff - though things weren't perfect, they were very accommodating and did make efforts to do what they could for us and the tournament.

Congrats to all the qualifiers too! Also - please confirm to me that you will be making the world championships, and your table choice, by November 15th. If you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Had a lot of fun, really good to see people again. I really do hope we have more tournaments next year, so we can have more times like this.

I also look forward to the eventual publication of 50 shades of brown.

Wot no afterglow?

Congratulations to UK Singles Champions Alex Shovelton & Sarah Brice, and UK Doubles Champions Jon May and Tom Burdett / Sarah Brice & Olga Lasecka, also Senior Singles Champion Rob Davey, and Senior Doubles Champions Dave Ziemann and Rob Davey.

Well done guys, these are thing to celebrate, they make families and local newspaper editors proud. Also well done to the others who have qualified for Nantes.

Thanks to the organisers for putting on a very well run tournament, a great mixture of events. The team event in particular was great fun (thanks Team Bristol for taking me in).

I didn't forget the Junior Champions, but they merit a special mention. Matty Warr took down some top players in OS up to the level of Rob Davey, and Callum Oakes won SPS... Isn't it great that there are two 15 year olds who are beginning to tear the place up? It's going to be fun to see how far they go.

Just want to add my thanks to the organisers and helpers too, even with a dodgy microphone. Love the day, nice to be informed I was holding up the event too, it's been quite a while since that happened.

Best bits
Clown Foos - brilliant as always.
Shovies shirts - YES! (Sorry John)
Dave, Emma and family - great to see the FOUR of you.
Sarah - LOVED the new look!
My partners - thanks Paul and Chris - quarter past four.
Pleased with 5th Mens Doubles (yeah baby), 3rd Pro Doubles (ditto) and 3rd Senior Doubles
(Note to absent National Teams Coordinator - please fill in my log book)
Suarez goal being disallowed - YESSSSS
Venue central location - Coventry is really good and this Rileys not too bad.

One bad bit - A classic Rob Moss "morning after the 12 pint night before" rear air explusion which even made Bruce leave the game and cleared our match three tables away!

Great seeing you all again, catching up is part and parcel of tournaments, my fingers crossed for more of them next year maybe.

Firstly thanks to my partners in the doubles events, Will and Stan!
As many of you know I am fairly new to the foosball scene compared to many of you guys, I have been attending the Royal in Nuneaton for around last 12months, because I have enjoyed the game so much I have then ended up attending all 3 tournaments this year, I have to say I have enjoyed all 3 of them, and met some new friendly people, thanks to all the people involved in making these tournaments happen from organisers, desk guys, and table helpers. I appreciate the efforts people give to make these happen and I look forward to attending more next year.

Thanks again

Mark

Yes a big thank you to all those who made this tournament happen and ran it, but especially to those who transported , set up and took down the tables as I appreciate how hard that is!
I enjoyed the singles saturday even though it was (spit) garlando :D
Great match against Chris H in seniors losing 8-6 5th game on ITSF sweat ball largely thanks to Chis,s awesome 2 bar on Garando.
Congrats to Martyn and Chris on 5th in OD which is pretty dam good for oldies.

A special mention also to Matty Warr and Calum where all the experience and travel to international events is really starting to pay off. These are now seriously good juniors who will more than hold their own in nantes. Matty beating Rob Davey clearly demonstrates that.
Its a real pity we do not have two more to make a great junior team as well!

We really need to do something about that next year.

That was heroic. Shortly after I went to the desk and said "Please don't call me for 10 minutes - for health and safety reasons, I'm going for a ***t".

High's
- playing with my oldest buddy Cyrano.
- getting to 5-2 up in a race to 7 vs Bobby Moss and Chris L. Before they switched. A cool display of professional play meant they won on sweat ball.
- playing winner stays on with Cyr and Brice til 5:30 in morning and drinking JaegerBombs to stay awake.
- beating Vincent Moch in singles
-Being part of the table team and feeling the warm glow of doing something cool for the event. I'd have been happy to do it for free if it meant more folks got involved. We could have started the DYP a lot earlier.
- Loved the team event, Thanks Meng and Sarah for being Bathonians for some of the funnest games in a long time. Still not sure how Cyr beat Jody...

Low's
- Waking up at 8am on Sunday morning and feeling like my body didn't belong to me but some alien monster called Jågermeister.
- not being able to poo for a while after because all I ate was pizza for the duration of the tournament...

Great tournament all round

Thanks to all the organisers and helpers for a great tournament! Steve, Mayya thanks for all the hard work, the table builders eg Josh, Meng, and other desk monkeys eg Bundy and James Littlefair. Things seemed to start and finish in good time, huge well done to you all.

Highs:
WINNING! It’s so so hard to win women singles these days. I had some of my best results this tournament.
24 hour bar!! Yes mate! The venue was awesome. The staff, the location, the locals…24 hour bar need I say more!
Jon May’s head game tutorial. I learnt a lot about how to not play like an idiot.
Josh and Cyrano buying me a bottle of champagne :) it made my dad very happy.
Team Bath, team joshjagerbombs! I had so much fun with you guys. Sorry for not winning a single game.

Lows:
The feeling I had Monday after drinking until 4/5am both Friday and Saturday night.

Roll on Nantes :D

Highs:

Making Steve hit a good 7 or 8 on the angry scale through very childish humour with mike and dan.

Thai curry on a man date with Jon.

Telling Sarah she's easy (blonde)

Enjoyed this. Thanks to Rileys for letting us use the venue, and especially Adam the manager for being so helpful. Had a number of issues with the mic that made things a lot harder at times, but he never lost patience with us which was good. Thanks to Boris for driving the van, Joe for helping him with the tables and being a desk man, the table guys for their big part and James for helping out behind when needed, as well as 2 or 3 others (Rich, Jon, Tom, anyone else?) who chipped in occasionally. Especially big thanks to Mayya, who doesn't have a lot of experience doing this, doesn't live anywhere near the venue, but did an excellent job.

Things started a bit late to begin with on Saturday but we soon caught up leaving plenty of time for the team event, but then around 1/3 of the entrants for that went off for a chinese so we couldnt start it until gone 9. I think we would have finished late in any case given the number of teams, I think everyone had fun though :)

Sunday we struggled a bit as both Joe and I played together but I think we were done by 9ish which is a good result.

I was very impressed with:

- Matt Warr and Callum Oakes - got so much better lately, surely going to be top players in the next few years?
- Joe Bundy - again massive improvement and a great doubles partner at the back, always calm, scored some crucial goals and solid blocking
- Chris Lyall - thought he was the better player for most of our singles match, not sure how you didn't go further
- Alex Shovelton - couldn't stop him in the OS winner's final, got very close in the OS loser's final and then he took control of our OD match after we had gone 1-0 up. Well played and deserved OS champion. Let's both take this sort of form to Nantes eh?
- Franky Chau - my DYP partner - he has sick slingshots, shame I hadn't warmed up properly on Friday.

Thanks to all my partners and team mates, very pleased with 2nd OS, 1st Mixed, 1st Team, bit gutted about 4th in OD but we gave a good fight and on another day could've taken it.

Can't wait til the next one.

Steve
