Travel and Accommodation

Travelling by Road

Enter Liverpool via the M62/Edge Lane corridor and follow signs for ‘City Centre’ and then signs for ‘Lime Street Station’. Venue is approx 200m south of the station complex (to the right facing downhill). The venue is on the corner of Bolton Street and Copperas Hill

For those entering the city via the M53/Wallasey tunnel, follow ‘City Centre’ direction (right lane) out of the tunnel, then stay in left/middle lane when approaching the city centre, filter left at lights before roundabout for Birkenhead tunnel, get into the right lane and turn right at the first set of traffic lights up the hill, follow Lime St and take second left after the station, the venue is 100m on the left.

Parking

There is only time-limited daytime street parking available near the venue with very sharp traffic wardens even at weekends – this is Liverpool City Centre! There are public car parks in Mount Pleasant (around 300m away) and at the top of Copperas Hill allowing attractive all-day rates, the car park on Bolton Street next to the venue is expensive and closes at tea-time, or St John’s Shopping Centre (but check closing times). There are other parking options available. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Use of Public Transport is strongly recommended.

Taxis
Champfoos recommend Phoenix Cabs (private-hire Black cabs) who offer very reasonable pre-booked rates – 0151-268-5555

The venue is located on the corner of Bolton Street and Copperas Hill as shown on the maps below:

Travelling by Rail

Liverpool is served by Liverpool Lime Street Station with direct services to London Euston and connections from all over the UK. Check out http://www.thetrainline.com for timetables and ticket prices. Lime Street Station is less than 3 minutes walk to the venue. On foot, exit Lime Street to the left hand side of the concourse, walk directly on to Bolton street from the side entrance, venue is on your left at the end of Bolton St.

Liverpool Central Station is served by local lines including Southport/Preston and Wirral/Chester/North Wales – the station 5 is minutes walk – exit the concourse turning right (uphill) on Ranelagh Street, cross Lime Street on to Copperas Hill (left of the Adelphi Hotel), venue is 50 yards uphill on your left.

Flying to Liverpool

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) has excellent connections to cities throughout Europe, being a hub for several Budget airlines. Booking early is recommended for the cheapest flights. Do NOT fly to Stansted!! It is at the other end of the country with very poor transport links!!

Cheers.

Ergh, yeah, Liverpool are playing Arsenal in the early kick off on the Saturday. So of course there are probably going to 20,000-odd people travelling for that.

After the last Gloucester tournament being arranged on a Cheltenham race weekend and now this, organisers should really start to check up on the dates of major local sporting events before confirming the date of their tournament.

Still, I'm sure not all hotels in the city are fully booked, just needs someone to go through the lot and find out which still have vacancies. With the early kick off time, I'm presuming there will be more bookings on the Friday night than the Saturday - which should be more free.

I've just been looking through here - http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotels-g18 ... otels.html - have checked the hotels websites and it seems to be pretty accurate on availability.

If you rank by distance, then everything near the city centre is walkable to the venue. But Liverpool is a pretty small city really - so nothing is too far out that it can't be travelled with a cheap taxi journey or short bus ride etc. Hotels near the airport will actually be right by South Parkway station - which is a 5 min train journey to Lime Street (which is about 250meters from the venue).

Had a few people ask me questions about this tournament, so just thought I'd put it on here that I wont be running this tournament this year.

Very much looking forward to just being able to turn up and play!

I have had a request from a group of Latvian players for semi-pro events on the Saturday as happened last year, as they are unable to attend Sunday.

Am therefore proposing to bring SPD forward to 2.30pm Saturday being exclusive with WS/SS and NS/ND

Also proposing to revise the team competition to a 4-player handicapped format similar to the league (still modified double-slim) with 2x singles and 3x doubles games per best of 5 match.
