Re: Questions for Dave Perrott

Alex, it is not about people needing to be 'pushed', it is about making it explicitly clear that there is a requirement; put more simply, it is a communications issue, and at no point was the requirement for witness statements effectively communicated to potential witnesses. How did the process chec...

Re: Questions for Dave Perrott

I also think the committee process did as much as it could have done, and that the real issue was the lack of people coming forward (at the time and subsequently), not the committee decision making process per se. Perhaps in your reference to "the BFA" you are talking more generally than "the BFA c...

Re: Questions on the rules. . .

Dave, the confusion has been cleared up, I think for the purpose of explaining these rules it is better to put them in the context of a best of three or best of five game match, rather than a single game match as the 'game' and 'match' terms can become confused. As far as the point about technical f...

Re: Questions on the rules. . .

Another example to try and help me explain it better: Joe Bloggs jars once in the first game, once in the second, then once in the third game. By the third jar, he would give away a technical. Am I right in thinking it doesnt matter what game the 4th and 5th jarring offences come from, it would res...

Re: Noobs and passing rule

Touching the ball with the same player twice, allowing the ball to go stationary and then passing it :( Ben Ben, make sure you are clear on the rule before explaining it. Touching the ball with the same player figure twice can be legal providing you only use the sides of the player figure, it is on...

Re: Single elimination format in tournament play

I would really like to see a longer format SE event (best of 7, or even best of 9). I agree that there needs to be something in it for the lower ranked players, so maybe it should involve the top 16 automatically qualifying for the last 32 and the rest of the field playing a swiss event to qualify f...

Re: 2010 World Cup January!

I do not think trials are a very good way to pick the team. This method clearly favours the underdogs psychologically and cannot replicate the pressure that players will be under in Nantes (or wherever it will be). Normal domestic or international competitions are one thing, and most of us handle th...

Re: Oxford International Open - Afterglow

Top tournament with an excellent venue (despite the drinks price variation), high attendance and a great prize fund, clearly a lot of effort went into making it happen. I loved the opportunity to try out the Fireball tables and the goody bags were a really nice touch. Many thanks to all involved esp...

Bristol roads were very bad this morning, but now seem to be clearing. Some of the smaller side roads are still a little slushy but the main roads are running fine.

I will go if others can make it, but if your minds are made then don't worry.
