Re: Vending Machine Win

This is actually Ed Taylor by the way - not just a random video. A new celebrity who just happens to play table football. It has gone viral - it had 1.5 million hits in 4 days (amazing what people will watch) and has been covered by The Mirror, The Metro, The Daily Mail, Good Morning America and Jap...

Looks like they all made it. Boris and Dave Z should scrape through too.

Re: ITSF World Cup and World Championships, Nantes 2012

There is a column on rankings labeled 'Op Vict'. Am I being thick but what is this? It seems to be the number of wins their opponents have had - the idea being if they have played stronger players than someone else with the same number of wins and same goal difference (and I assume no head to head ...

Re: ITSF World Cup and World Championships, Nantes 2012

On Eurosport 2 - Sunday 11.30pm claims to be day four coverage (1h 30), Monday 7.45am says it is the men's singles final (1h), Tuesday 7am says "men's and doubles semi-finals and finals" (1h), Wednesday 7am says men's quarter-finals (2h). I have set them to record but Eurosport tend to be unreliable...

Re: ITSF World Cup and World Championships, Nantes 2012

I seem to remember finding the men's singles final on the Monday morning on Eurosport 2. It'd be worth looking at obscure hours for the next week when they might show odd bits and pieces.

Re: Cambridge University Table Football Club (CUTFC)

Are you actually allowed to call yourselves that? I thought "club" was normally strictly reserved for sports clubs which come under an Athletics Union or equivalent. Either way, club sounds better and being considered a sports club not a society would probably be rewarding so you should try to achie...

Re: The BFA Cup - Afterglow and Results

Congratulations to Southampton. It was well deserved though a shame we couldn't have a full length match as it may well have been as close as our group stage match. It was really good to be able to be involved in the event despite what some people may think of our team. We took 4 available players w...

Anyone still stuck for doubles? I might get out of bed for it if anyone is still available.

Re: The BFA Cup!

I do not have the luxury of being able to stay until midnight unfortunately. The last chance to get home by train on Sunday seems to be 2127 even though I only live just down the M5. If time restrictions mean groups of 4 seem better then that is reasonable - I was expecting groups of 4 anyway - but ...

Re: Fireball Partners Wanted

I'm looking for partners for Open Doubles and Amateur Doubles (looking to do well in AD as it's my table of choice!). Normally play up front but that's more habit than essential. Also I expect to be there on Friday so any pros for pro-am? (I'll take defence given your superior skill) I'll also do th...

Re: Seeding and Rankings Debate

Hi Chris, I understand what you are saying about getting the right results at the end of a tournament. It is good if a tournament produces results in line with the performance of players however if a tournament has a short format and good players lose to other good players in earlier rounds because ...

Re: Seeding and Rankings Debate

Glad to be of service Joe and good to see your enthusiasm for this debate shining through. It is still important though as Groups+SE will be used again at tournaments even if just in divisional events. My points about who the decision favoured were not intended to accuse anyone of trying to gain unf...

Re: Seeding and Rankings Debate

Tom, I am not proposing that goal difference be used except where it is unavoidable where players who are in the same group have the same number of wins and cannot be separated by head to head. I acknowledge that goal difference is not good for seeding as you want to give novices a chance and it dep...
