Re: BFA and DP

But Rob you are twisting the sequencing in the same way that Dave P is. The issue with the selection was about Boris and Rob not talking, and Boris jumping the gun on the announcement (seriously, how many times does Dave expect Boris to apologise for this!!). It was at worst an administrative cockup...

Re: Honorary memberships- a good idea?

I think we should distinguish in this discussion between "Honorary memberships" and awards acknowledging exceptional contribution. The former would appear to give a member an enhanced status versus other BFA members, which i do disagree with, whereas the latter i think is just absolutely appropriate...

Re: BFA and DP

Since DP has once again risen to the bait, i figured i would too. Just for a laugh. I have had to re-read this thread to remember what the gripes were. Ah yes: 1) an administrative blunder over squad list, where Boris posted the wrong one; 2) a disciplinary procedure which resulted in someone gettin...

Re: New Website

Just a suggestion, but on reading it i thought it may be best to delete the words "Formerly the Bar Football Association" from the "About us" pages as this reference is quite historic now. It is still written (and should stay) in the constitution, so it is not like such a deletion from the website w...

Re: Single elimination format in tournament play

FOr what it is worth, i think upsets are good for the game. The longer game gives the good players more time to settle against an unfamiliar opponent, as much as anything. I can understand good players hating to play cold and go out on a 1-5. I think the optimum format is the the following: - groups...

Re: What should the BFA be doing that it isn't doing now?

Perhaps - and here is a suggestion - focussing on what the BFA does rather than what the BFA does not is more constructive. I have a sense of deja vu? Semi-annual reports from the chairman on what the BFA committee has done, has considered, is considering or is planning. Consider this a transparency...

Re: What should the BFA be doing that it isn't doing now?

I read the title of the original post for the hundredth time but wondered for the first time about whether a more effective topic would be: "What the BFA is doing" I suspect more is happening than people realise. But perhaps if committee members regularly gave updates on what is happening, then ide...

Re: Forum Changes

I was wondering whether there were any plans to change the design/graphics/colours on the forum to make them look less like the default PHPBB install. I suppose there are people who may come across this site and dismiss it quickly without realising it attracts the significant majority of the top UK ...

The problem with Linux, in all forms, is it is less well supported. The work server may run on linux for all i know, but the remote access is only ever going to be PC and possibly mac. Clearly this is more of an issue for some than others. Clearly, the solution to XP running slowly is just to ensure...

However that doesn't mean I like FAS tables. Too many horrible memories of the Purple Turtle in Oxford Dan, but those were the days! playing 10 games straight on wso until finally losing because you could no longer see the ball due to the (spilt) alcohol. if only there was somewhere similar in lond...

... but we all know that tournament tables are simply the better tables made by the companies that pay the ITSF.

Whether a table is better or worse by virtue of having a slicker surface is a matter of opinion. The most important thing is that the table plays like the players want it to.
