Re: Forum Changes

It seems I have a problem sending messages then. Pete your message is sitting in my out box with the others.

Re: Questions about the Liverpool Finances

What ever happened to Pete Ganderton?

Was just checking out who the mods actually are and noticed his name.

Re: Forum Changes

Not sure if this is the right place to post it but...

I am unable to PM people since the forum change. My PMs just seem to be sitting in my outbox as opposed to moving to sent.
(I don't need them sent any more but thought it worth pointing out just in case it was a wider problem).

Southamptonites trip to Reading?

Is there a crowd of you that play in reading on a Friday night? Its looking like 5 of us from the deep south would be keen to come up for a game or 2 this Friday (27/03/09).

Is that a good time?

Jon's relax, I was not knocking your advice. I was just expressing my surprise that passing practice was not prioritised.

Re: 5-bar skills on garlando

I cant believe I have just seen 3 pros recommend hacking as the best thing you should practice to improve your 5-bar. Boris and the Johns are right that in the in the short term (Oxford) practising shooting from the midfield will serve you better than practising passing. In the longer term you will ...

Re: Foosball in The Press

Hmm 1-3-4-3 sounds good. Can any of the more travelled players tell me why no mainstream tables have this? More options in midfield. Less men to block shots from defence Skills learnt in defence would translate better to attack. Pull kicks would be harder up front Only need to manufacture 2 differen...

What are the entry requirements for the pro-am?
PM+novice, P+A and SP+SP ?

What are the entry requirements for the handicapped doubles?

Is it a 3000 limited?
3200 limited?
Or is it just for disabled people?

Looks like this one ticks all the boxes. Looking forward to it. Does the MD abbreviation in the package deals stand for Mixed Doubles? Seeing as there aren't anywhere near as many female players as male players most people (esp. SPs) won't be able to enter mixed but still end up paying for it. Look ...

None of the tables I play on a regular basis are quite the same, they all have slightly different resistances on the rods and all feel heavier and less smooth than tournament spec tables. So I don’t think it will matter if the rod weights are not spot on. Just having some increased weight would allo...

Solid rods flex less and are much heavier than through rods. For me it was the increase in rod weight that presented the bigest challenge when moving to a through rod table.

I’m just curious… has anyone tried the poor mans solution of adding weight to the telescopic rod?

Dan’s methods on setting up a league must be good as from what I hear he set up a good scene in oxford. However I suspect you don’t have nearly as many tables as are present in oxford common rooms and bars. The bottom line is more tables = more players. Getting tables in common rooms is a priority. ...
