Re: European Fireball foos-golf open 2011

I guess if a player pre-regs and then doesn't turn up, you just have to walk through that hole.

For info the positions are:

1
2
3
4
5
7
9
13
17
25
33
49
65
97

Therefore if you predict Mase (par 1) to finish 33rd and he actually finishes 65th, you are two places out, so would bogey the hole.

Re: Improving by playing with better players?

Better Players.... Open your eyes: Playing better players opens your eyes to the way better players play, you can then see what you should be aiming for and try to immitate it. Make you focus more: Better players put your entire game under greater scrutiny. A lesser player may allow you 12-14 shots ...

Re: leonhart wins

I spoke briefly with Mary in Vegas. She mentioned the possibility of a Euro Tour for Tornado in the not too distant future. If this actually happens, it would position Tornado tables in Europe more conveniently for the world cup.

Re: STD: Isha Lounge Open 17-19 June (SW London)

I like team events.

I don't like all the rules, handicaps, limits and bloop that try to make an otherwise fun competition as equal as possible - it is boring, I might as well stay at home and flip a few coins on my own.

Re: Vote - How to allocate POY points?

Chris, the point of recognising when you play foreigners is that it takes more account of when you have had to play someone you have never played before. This is a skill that is rarely tested within the domestic UK player base. By testing it more, you get better at it. So yes, playing more foreigner...

Re: Vote - How to allocate POY points?

It doesn't matter if a UK player could beat all the foreign opposition put in front of them, if they can't beat the UK players at the UKC then they're not going to qualify for the world champs. This is a real shame and a major drawback of our selection process. On the subject of POY, in my opinion ...

Re: Vote - How to allocate POY points?

Option A. I agree with Oli. Taking account of foreigner's performances is relevant to UK POY. It differentiates between those who do well when foreigners are present and those who don't do so well. Also, this will still allow the POY to reflect relative UK player finishing positions in tournaments.

Re: Tips / Advice / Game theory

If your snake starts failing you during a tournament then a bit of self analysis is required, perhaps: i. Your opponent is in your head and just knows how you are shooting ii. You are misexecuting and not hitting the hole you want iii. You are struggling to read a defence because you are focusing on...

Re: The selection process for ITSF worlds..

The problem with using POY over ITSF is that it makes the whole selection process exclude some players. We all have access to ITSF events, there are three in the UK each year, with Paris and Belgium events also on our doorstep - I remember sharing a tent to keep costs down at the eurosoccer worlds i...

Re: The selection process for ITSF worlds..

Despite having won the UKC, and being very happy to represent the UK at the World Championships as a result, I am not a huge fan of the UKC being used to select all the UK representatives at the World championships in Nantes. I have a lot of sympathy for those who have fought hard all year, against ...
