Rob's just booked a return flight for £400. I think he said it has to be today.

Re: ITSF Revisions to Rules for 2016
So is it a distraction or not? Obviously, accordingly to the rules, yes and no. Personally I sweat like a pig playing under lights sometimes and if I can't wipe my hands before a shot there's likely to be a serious wrench-related injury for the opposing forward when the ball flies off the table tow...

Re: East Anglia Open Results & Afterglow
I couldn't have asked more from the help I had the other weekend. Sarah, Greta, Fitz & Kata were just brilliant Due to the lack of planning regarding the transport for Great Yarmouth I had to do the journey of Liverpool-London-Liverpool-Great Yarmouth in a 24 hour period, after I said from the very...

Re: ITSF Revisions to Rules for 2016
This one seems new as well, and a bit ridiculous: 20.5 A player who removes his hands from the handles and reaches down or away from the table (to wipe his hands, apply rosin, etc) while the ball is in play shall be charged with a distraction. Does this mean that if I'm going to take my hand off the...

Re: East Anglia Open Results & Afterglow
The thing I've generally heard which stops most tournaments from happening is the lack of paid help to transport, put up and take down tables. There's scope for someone to start a little business doing this task if they own a decent sized van, and it would no doubt help to reinvigorate the national ...

Re: Revisions to BFA Membership Scheme
I suppose another thing is that, for the foreseeable future the BFA has enough funds on hand to cover the eventuality of us not having enough members to pay the take. My back of an envelope reckoned we need around 75 people paying annually, and on recent experience, we should about that. That bit i...

Re: Revisions to BFA Membership Scheme
I'm well aware of all that. My problem is that the BFA has changed its stance on what people need to be members for and the only thing membership is required for isn't what people are going to turn up to. If there were major tournaments like there used to be when we had 10-15 a year then the number ...

Re: Revisions to BFA Membership Scheme
OK. Is there anything being done to solve the "where's the tournaments" problem? Clubs are all well and good, but the only jump most players seem to have at the moment is going from playing their mates weekly or monthly to playing abroad, which is a fairly mighty leap most probably won't take, parti...

Re: Revisions to BFA Membership Scheme
Seems like these changes might struggle to cover even the annual ITSF fees with so few tournaments?

I'd probably be putting some of these on it: http://www.sugatsune.co.uk/s.nl/sc.17/category.65003/.f Either that or, for real money-no-object stuff, gyroscopic feet like this pool table, just in case you happen to be foosing on a boat, or in the Floatel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRhfcXxM79U

Re: New BFA Table Scheme
Without tournaments, the BFA has no regular income with which to subsidise the grassroots game. Expert challenges will only prop the federation up for so long; one dry year and assets will have to be sold to pay bills if there's no membership income. A player can register with the ITSF for €50 for a...
