Re: Disillusioned with table football

Just checking I'd remembered my password. I also remember John Worthington's horrified look a few years ago when I said I hadn't played for twenty years. He asked why. "Because it got boring" I said. Plus of course the TS tournaments had ended. IMO it is incredibly boring and pointless trying to per...

"The result might even launch a renaissance in table football, a sport previously associated with socially inept and/or borderline-alcoholic men with a strength of wrist that probably shouldn't be dwelt upon. "

I hate this forum. The snake is clearly divisive, even among the regular tournament goers.  That's why there was one of the longest running threads on it a while back on Britfoos. Among GB's concerns, and this is not his only concern, is that snake dominated tournaments and play put off his regulars...

GB's content was about far more than the snake.  It is about the current state of table football, and the relationship between the most successful tf operator in this country and the BFA.

I wish I hadn't bothered to log in today. GB is the man running it at grass roots level, and telling you something you cannot comprehend.  Players below the elite do not give a sh1t what some t0sser from the ITSF or USTSF have to say.  The game is dying, a mass of people are not interested in your e...

Lou Reed fan?  Good on you DP.

We haven't always seen eye to eye in the past, but I just want to say you are one of the most committed, selfless and decent people in the game.

Respect.

OK.  It's my perception of how parts of the BFA (ie. one or more people) seemed to be anti Tornado, anti Tich, pro Garlando, pro student about 4 years ago.   Before you arrived on the scene.  It was clearly not Richard as he has pointed out quite forcibly, and correctly, and I remember his help at v...

Funny enough I enjoyed the 'intimate' small tournaments very much, not too many foosers, and  reasonable competition.  And I can't  forget the Heathrow event where I started playing again - played against Mr. Collignon, how good is that at a tournament?  Possibly better than a load of school kids an...

How much was the ITSF sanction fee?  What did the ITSF add to that tournament?

The best times (IMO) were when Tich was running tournaments, and he didn't need a committee or the ITSF to do it.

Craig, I have been offended and sickened by your avatar for some years now, and it has led to me no longer attending tournaments.  I have silently fumed over the lax standards of this noble organisation that allow, nay condone, the use of such despicable language, and for too many years have stood s...

Once only - positive comment. I found the 'long' posts very interesting, and thanks to those who have put the effort in to let us none attendees know what was going in such detail.  It might just be that descriptions like these which capture a flavour of the intensity and excitement of a tournament ...

Oh dear I seem to have missed the point.  I thought the BFA were buying a coach in order to help people travel to tournaments.  The juniors could have packed lunches, a day out at a foosball tournament and still be home in time for Dr. Who.  Obviously there would be a network of coaches in order to ...

I think it is a shame that some on here would not consider giving the BFA a fiver a year.  This is to preserve the  game in the UK, to promote it by gaining better representation via the ITSF and to further the good work of the BFA themselves.   When I think back to my first tentative steps into the...
