Also I seem to remember having 64 teams in OD at a Warwick Open, either the second or third one can't remember fully nor do I have the stats at hand. 55 at OD kick-off in 2006, 52 after drop-outs. OD in 2007 was smaller, with 51 (although the 101 in OS was a record). Interesting correlation in the ...

If you don't mind using block-foot telescopic tables and don't want to scare off the novices, then it would help to ban the snake, but it's not the be-all and the end-all as it's harder to shoot and considerably less effective. I should probably declare my personal interest in never reverting back ...

Wow. I don't have time to read all the posts on britfoos these days, but I just read Geoff's entire article. Anyone who has any interest in the future (or indeed the history) of foos cannot afford not to read it in full. I've never had any particular dislike for the snake. Although I've never played...

Thanks to Tom and Bill, and to all the guys from Warwick who helped run the tourney. The DYP was great fun as always. There are always a few fresh faces too, which is good. I managed to stay away from the desk for most of the tourney, although still ended up there a bit, including my first truly epi...

This whole thread is killing me. Can't you guys talk about something more interesting? Maybe take it in a more amusing direction, like the GTA 4 thread? To keep my post on topic, Chaz could you add the 'don't know/don't care' option? Best wishes, Grumpy Dave I don't think it's more boring than any ...

I saw an article a few months ago about whether we can stop accommodating 800x600. I thought "hmm, I'm still accommodating for 640x480". Screen resolutions lower than 1024x768 are pretty rare now. However , there's a big increase in the use of mobile devices with tiny screens for web browsing. Fortu...

Holywell III - Partner needed for SPD and OD
Hello all, I'm planning on coming to Holywell III and need a partner/partners. Obv I'm not at Warwick anymore, but fortunately we have a pinny Garlando at work (and I got some proper balls for it) so I've been able to carry on playing (and have been doing rather a lot of it). I think you all know th...

I agree with Harry that it is important to make tournaments attractive to PMs, and I think there should be an incentive/bonus/privilege to becoming a PM. I think this extends to the wider point that advancing up the rankings should be rewarded rather than punished. As long there are comments like '...

I think a fundamental change to the ranking system could be the solution, but I don't like any of the proposals for one so far. In the meantime, I think the new boundaries that Steve suggested would make the current ranking system a bit more fair and meaningful. Your proposal addresses how to make P...

From there you can hire the following: PAR56 CAN lights (means nothing to me) PAR CANs are stage lights... They're the most basic sort, just a powerful bulb in a metal cylinder (with no lense, IIRC). A PAR56 would be 7 inches in diameter (again, IIRC). I would have thought they'd be overkill: You'l...

I propose "I love the snake - it's gay" because I want to see what would happen then. That depends if it's a valid objection to the suggestion that being gay is inherently a bad thing, or if it's an objection to the use of the word regardless of context. The forum of one of the societies at warwick...

I have one but I don't really use it. I'm told that Tommy B loves his. Probably not a very big factor in him being much (much) better at foos than me though.
They can be quite addictive apparently. IMO they provide some pretty decent exercise, especially for something so small and inexpensive.

- If a ball flies out the game is paused and restarted Someone must shout "OUT" - goals scored before this shout stand. Correct, except... 'Someone' should be 'everybody' "OUT" should be "PAUSE!" and 'stand' should be 'are then disputed loudly between all parties' If the bar staff aren't glaring at...
