Re: UKC Transport and Travel

I'm planning on driving up from Southampton. I would normally go up via Oxford but could route across to Salisbury instead. Is that any use? Joules. Is anyone likely to be travelling via or near Yeovil - or from somewhere I can get a cheap train ticket to? Or need a lift at some point on the way if ...

Re: Rare Bonzini Find?

Ryan, There are a bunch of us in Southampton that play regularly. We are playing this evening in fact at The Arrow in Eastleigh from about 8pm. You'd be welcome to come along. Send me a private message in this forum if you want some more details or a lift to the pub. Cheers, Joules. Thanks Will , I ...

Re: Team Southampton - European League - We need you...

Warning! Thread hijack! If you'd rather play for the actual number one team in the UK, rather than the number one handicapped team in the UK, give me a shout. Alex Re-hijack in progress. As winners of the BFA club trophy Bristol can lay claim to being the number one club in the UK thi...

Re: European Champions Cup 2013

Thanks Steve. I heard somewhere that the BFA were considering allowing a limited number of players from other clubs (as the format requires 7 players for a full team, rather than the 4 the BFA league requires), is there any truth in this or are we limited to players registered with our club/ player...

Re: EGM at Warwick Open 2013

just because it has failed before it isn't necessarily a good reason not to try again. I don't think anyone said that, I just pointed out it had been tried before. I wrote my message before I read your's Oli! I didn't mean to suggest that anyone had said just this. There were some posts above in th...

Re: EGM at Warwick Open 2013

I'm probably not going to be able to make the EGM on the Friday at Warwick as I can only make it on the Sunday. So here are a few comments to throw in to the mix for people to consider when voting: I sympathise with the need to generate a baseline income and membership scheme is not, a priori, a ter...

Re: Hi from Farnborough

The Black Boy in Winchester has a Tornado that I think is owned by one of the Southampton lot. I guess they must play on it sometimes? Not that often in fact. Southampton foos is pretty much Wednesday evenings at the Pig and Whistle in Shirley. You would be welcome to join us but I guess it is furt...

Re: Euro foosball league

We are going to get bummed!!! I don't think I signed up for that! But yes, that is the likely outcome. But it will still be a really good experience. Joules can you list who wants to go and what spaces are left, we can then maybe fudge a few players in. Interesting, I'd kind of written this off giv...

Re: Euro foosball league

Hi Ben, Great, thanks. As an erstwhile player in Southampton it seems very appropriate for you to play anyway. The document that we were sent about this says this: Players who are playing EFL are not allowed to play in any other club during the whole year – the national federation is responsible to ...

Re: Euro foosball league

Well it seems, from what I have been told, that the rules are such that the current league champions should be submitted. In this case, as winners of the BFA cup, it is the Southampton Rockets. Unfortunately, not so many of us are free on the weekend of this event (Jun 22nd-24th), so we can't make u...

Re: The BFA Cup!

Had an excellent day at the BFA Cup yesterday. Thanks to the organisers for their hard work in making the thing happen - it is much appreciated. Thanks also to my fellow Rockets for playing so well. I thought that the competition format and rules on team composition worked well throughout as this le...

Re: The BFA Cup!

Here's Boris's original schedule for groups of 4 with QFs: 10.30am – Group stage Round 1 12pm – Group stage Round 2 1.30pm – Group stage Round 3 3.30pm - Quarter-finals 5.30pm – Semi-Finals 7.30pm - Grand Final & 3/4th play-off If each match takes 1.5 hrs, then changing to have groups of 6 lengthen...

Re: The BFA Cup!

Isn't 2 groups of 6 then semi -> final a much longer format than what was proposed earlier according to Boris' draft schedule. There are 15 matches to play per group so that makes a total of 33 matches to play. The group stages will take 5 rounds. With 3 groups of 4 and quarters -> semi -> final you...

Simon's pulled out due to unavailability so we're now looking for an extra player - must be ranked Pro or below. Current team is myself, James Littlefair and Louis Tan. Please contact me if you're interested. Great thread! So, I may have misunderstood but I thought that teams were supposed to be ba...

Re: Seeding and Rankings Debate

The two tournaments to be held in Liverpool and Bristol will be using GSE for all events, as they are one-dayers, multitable and must all be finished on the day ... In light of the above discussion then, would it be too cheeky to ask how you are going to seed the KO part of these events? BFA rank o...

To elaborate on Phil's answer: the pub doesn't have its own parking but parking is easy in the streets close by.

Re: Forum Changes

I've now implemented a mod which puts the text of a PM in the notification email itself. This is excellent. Thanks Tom. I guess one down side of this is that using the outbox to check whether a recipient hasn't actually read your message is no longer a reliable indicator. On balance though, receivi...

Hi Ben,

Not looking very likely for tonight. If we do play it will be just two or three of us so probably not worth the
trip. Next week should be better.

We do. We play Wednesday evenings at the Pig and Whistle on Shirley Rd.

I'm not sure about tomorrow evening though. Check back tomorrow daytime and I can give you an update.

Re: Kids and through rods

Just cut off the ends of the rods. ;) I was thinking along the same lines as Bren on attaching a tube (maybe even just the inner bit of a kitchen roll or something simple that's easy to replace) to the bearings. I have some odd ideas about making collapsible tubes or something similar that would ex...
