Thats quick work.
Id like to say well done to alot of people. Special mentions should go to Jon May for OS and 2 pairs of Warwickites, Nubbert and Way did fantastically in SPD and Colin and Rich did very well in OD.

Was in a bit of a hurry earlier, but thanks to everyone who helped make this a success, hopefully we can do it again next year.
Special thanks to Dan G - who helped to load and unload tables at both ends (I am getting too old for this - back is killing me!). To Johns Worthy and Shovo for running things so smoothly from the desk, and Mase for coordinating table set-up and breakdown. To Dave Z, Jude and Mike A for ensuring the new rules were well-understood, with few disputes - other than the usual suspects
My apologies to the Semi-Pros for allowing Robert Pfiffner in as a SP - for the rankings (bonus points) he has been treated as a pro, but SPs cannot expect an easy ride.
The major disappointment was the low turnout of local and local-ish players - no Rainbowites apart from self and Alex, and only a couple of locals, but unfortunately the Echo didn't take up the story. It will be Amateur doubles next year, but still there was a decent turnout in ND. The other disappointment was having to cancel Womens Doubles.
Everyone seemed to like the venue - a club bought by the Dockers union from film royalties, and used as a community meeting centre.
New rankings done and will be posted in a couple of minutes. Congratulations to the following on promotion (or re-promotion as the case may be).
Pro
Rob Moss
SP
Neil Dawson
James Harrold
Amateur
Colin Fallon
Rich Marsh
Gerald Tan
George Eid
Simon Yeung
Correction
Noel Hunwick – SP to Amateur (mistake in Chetwynd 2006 series)

Boris, I heard you played AMAZING garlando foos - long front pins both ways, quality hacks from the midfield.. the whole works! Your usual weird game but with skill. Well done!!

Jon May was a machine in singles, I think only Juj gave him any trouble. His passing, shooting from all rods and blocking were all brilliant and I'd expect him to give Rob a very good match if he finds that sort of form at another garlando tournament.
Anyone who has played pick-up games with Jon will know that this result was well overdue. Well played mate!

Yes thanks to all the organisers for a very well run event - and particularly to Boris for finding another excellent venue and getting the van/tables setup sorted - surely there will be far more events this year.
Pity that none of the manchester traditionals turned up (toys thrown out of prams etc) and that the women's turnout was low. That said, with Boris in liverpool full time i am sure the scene there is going to develop quickly.
Great to see some foreigners making the trip over from Switzerland.
Thanks,
Richard

This was an absolutely awesome tournament. Well-run, on-time, with enough breaks etc. The schedule was perfect. I didn't hear a single complaint all day. Congratulations for putting on such a good event!
Thanks to all those who have said nice things. I hope I manage to find that form again too.
I never do this, but:
Highs:
1. OS.
2. Ball five of game 3 vs Juj. It was the deciding ball - 2-2 in the third and the ball rattled around for around ten minutes with neither of us able to get hold of it and put it away.
3. Watching Mayya come back and win WS.
4. Watching Rob Moss play again
5. 2-ball vs Juj and Shovie
6. Getting deservedly beaten by Collin Fallon and Rich Marsh in OD - you guys played well
7. Getting deservedly beaten by Way Shong and Nubbert in OD - you guys also played well
8. Seeing the rankings afterwards and realising that losing in OD to you guys kept me at Pro rather than PM!
9. Generally seeing an awesome standard of play. The bar really has been raised in the UK in the last few years. There are ten people who on their day could win OS. It's seriously impressive.
Well done to all and SPECIAL thanks to JW who was kind enough to give us a lift back!
Jon

Thanks to everyone who put this on. It was run very well, thanks to all the input and helpers.
Congratulations to:
*Jon for deservedly winning OS, for showing the best form and remaining very calm. Reminded me of someone actually. :)
*Maya winning WS. She was like 7-2 down in a race to 10 and came back. No surprise as she kicked my ass in pick-ups.
Also:
*Boris played awesome too - best I've seen him play in ages. Long pin, pull and push kicks from the two, as well as delicate and combo hacks. SWEET!
*Thanks to Shovie for OD. We had to work a little bit against the Swiss guys, but you dominated everyone that I didn't need to do much. You were too good and you know I like to be lazy.
*2-ball with Jon & Maya. It was too funny, after shouting OUT, Maya walking away from the table and then stopping and not realising if she should return to the table or go and get the ball that had bounced off the table.
*Great to see the enthusiasm from the Warrick massive, showing good consistency in their looks, play and foosing standard. Remember, you can still talk to people who aren't from Warrick. :D
*It's time I started practicing again, particularly the 'top-spin of the back plate' goals. Everyone seems to be good at that ...
